"The Lamborghini Thread" : Reiter, Murcielago R-GT, Gallardo GT3...

the Lambo R-GT seems to be doing well in this year ACO/LM GT1, but strugling alot in FIA GT, why the Geramn team is so weak in SRO series

Ehm, LMES got much lesser competitors than FIAGT so it is easier to get a better result. IMO the competition in FIAGT is also just a bit better than LMES (although Modena and LAA are very good teams).

Scrap the GT1 Murcielago and concentrate on a GT2 Gallardo, based on the successful GT3 machine.

I notice reports on DSC suggest that ALL the Gallardo GT3s were withdrawn from today's round of British GT at Thruxton due to "engine issues".

ALL, you mean the 2 Gallardo I never understood why Tech9 switched for Lamborghini, being successful with Porsche and the 997 RSRs and Cups !

There should have been three - and there are usually four.

The reasons for the switch were simple - last years Porsches were woefully uncompetitive and this years were very expensive.

The DSC article states it is a design fault with the V10 engine, that leads to oil surging to 1 bank under high G load.

Spot on.
Under high G load, which at Thruxton is an almost constant high speed right turn..
Modena blew their engine there last year as well.

I only hope Peter Kox will heal quickly enough to be able to gun the Murcielago around the Spa 24 hrs...

Hmmm, odd one.

And Peter Kox better be back in time for Spa, or I'll cry.

If you mean Christopher Haase, he is at Oschersleben too because of FIA-GT3 (Tech9 Gallardo) and GT4 Cup (KTM)....so an additional race in GT1 would be a bit to much for one weekend.

They should hire me to drive the car!

But seriously, it's surprising to me that they cannot find another "good" driver to pilot the car. You would think that they could at least find someone who could hold his own. Nobody expects that there'll be someone as good as Kox just hanging around, but someone decent at least. Curious.

Too late now at a guess.

Reiter's season is, again, falling apart at the seams.

They intended to skip 1 round- Brno- because it was an LMS clash.

I heard rumors that Porsche has blocked a GT2 version of the Audi R8. So I think we will not see a factory backed Gallardo GT2 anytime soon.

We all know that factory support is key to have a successful GT car.

How can Porsche block a GT2 entry by Audi? Or Lambo? Or Anyone?
