Very happy to see the Rebellion guys on the outright podium it was a very happy outright podium. Hope we see this again at Le Mans. One never knows

Yes, Rebellion have a good chance this year. Reverting to the old AER seems to have worked.

Not sure getting on the podium due to the factory cars falling by the wayside is anything to get excited about, if the factories are reliable for LM then 7-8 is all they'll be fighting for. Something needs to be done for LMP1-L and I hope these WEC races don't confuse things for the FIA/ACO.
Congrats on the podium to Rebellion, but let's be realistic. |

Yes big congratulations to the team a fine result, and with the car seeming to be fast on the straights it could be even closer to the factory cars in a few weeks

The chance of a winning privateer in Le Mans hasn't been that big in about 10 years. I'm really looking forward to it. Great job so far by Rebellion.

Well, 3rd or even 2nd place could be possible, but not winning. Even if there was only one factory car left, they could cruise in half speed saving off parts and still easily beat everyone else on pure performance.

I'm not saying Rebellion will win. I don't think they will. But it is certainly possible given what we've witnessed in the opening 2 rounds. |

Indeed. Going on the performances from Silverstone and Spa you'd have to bet against the 6 factory P1s finishing LM in all the top 6 positions, so plenty of opportunity for Rebellion to rack up plenty more championship points even if they 'only' finish 4th, 5th or 6th.

Point for the if-the-scoring-system-wasn't-a-complete-joke-we-could-finally-actually-have-chance-of-actually-beating-the-factories-in-some-area-but-oh-well-until-then-they-are-just-imaginary-fantasy-points-some-nerds-on-forums-can-fight-over-while-others-claim-everything-is-perfect championship.

By 'championship' I was just going by the league table on the Wikipedia page for the WEC, apologies if that is not an official one...

Very odd series of posts.
It even answers it's own question in the next sentence. They score points in the drivers championship. That's an official FIA World Championship. |

And the drivers championship is almost entirely meaningless to the teams. |

Odd, because it's a legit answer.
It's a championship where they compete against the hybrid teams, and currently they sit 2nd and 4th. I see no reason why it should be disregarded. |

Perhaps we need a vote on this... To me (as in F1) the Drivers Championship is the one to win, with the manufacturers one just something that gets put into a newspaper advert the following Monday and then forgotten about.

As for the second, yeah it's at least something where they can compete together (then again, even as LMP2 team they could so it's not strictly unified LMP1 scoring even there), but it's the lesser of the champs they're interested in |

I honestly don't even remember who were the 2nd and 3rd drivers who won with Porsche at LM last year, and wouldn't the first either if it wasn't for the obvious F1 linkup ILMC didn't even have drivers championships. It was good as it diverted everything to the teams. |

I'd love to see someone tell Ant Davidson and Allan McNish their official FIA World Champion trophies are "entirely meaningless". Not sure you'd live to tell the tale afterwards. But yes, Rebellion don't complete with the hybrid teams, if you ignore when they do compete with each other.
Anyway, a big song and dance was made when Penske beat Audi in a P2 v P1 battle back in the ALMS days. Here we have a similar situation. How about we just enjoy it, rather than be determined to hate everything about it? |

As I said, whether or not they are running in LMP1 cartegory, they'd be eligible for the drivers championship (with LMP2) How is it similar to ALMS situation? |
