Exactly. So many factors that could explain the timings.

How much boost they are running, how much weight, how aggressive the setup is....

Only true indication will come race day.

Just back from brands, not a bad day, surprised at the attendance, car parks were full and the catering was struggling to cope with the volume of people but enjoyed seeing the cars for the first time this year, new bmw was very quiet and it will be interesting to see how it compares to the old 1 series cars in the races but the cars looked quick. Biggest draw in the pit lane seemed to be the mobile meat pie Toyota and again it looked good on track.

Tordoff fastest today, quicker than last year's pole time.

Chilton 2nd quickest with Jackson 8th in the afternoon session so the Focus looks strong again this year.

Jordan 4th and Ingram 6th, so the new cars on the pace already.

Hill put the Audi 7th quickest (afternoon session), so it should be a good season for the S3 too.

AmD-run cars very impressively 1st, 5th, 7th (afternoon).

PMR & BMR low down.

Curious that Neal missed the afternoon session due to "sponsor commitments". Why give up half a day's worth of testing/data?

Not what I was lead to believe. Unless they're doing a sponsor launch on ANOther day to coincide with something?

Or maybe they have no sponsors which is why the drivers needed to bring 1/2 million to the party.

Because he wants the grid to reduce, not grow. He has already stated they won't be used, so a second Toyota means a car has to drop elsewhere.

The real reason is he was off to sort out the deal for 2020 when he'll partner with JP and launch the works Kia Racing sponsored by Magic Unicorns.

But obviously this information can't be revealed yet as it'll overshadow the 2019 season launch. So don't tell anyone...

Four were built, one is with Team Parker Racing, one is with Trevor Turkington, the third is about to go to Trevor Turkington. The future of the fourth is uncertain.

Yes, he's already got one on the grid.

He's already said no to a works backed Honda in recent years, and taken TBLs away from works backed Infintis. I think someone has to leave the grid before a second Toyota appears.

He wants to reduce numbers due to lack of space at some circuits. More teams = more trucks and more equipment. Example - Oulton a few years ago Welch and AMD were both working from the paddock as there's not enough garages. Oulton isn't the worst equippd circuit the BTCC visits...

Depends on who the sponsor is, and whether it was even a BTCC sponsor. It might have been connected to the TCT entry?

It was broke though at 32 cars. The paddock space is one of many problems with a grid that large.....

“In my honest opinion, I would prefer for there to be less cars and in fact I've been telling the teams over the last couple of years that I want to reduce the grid size," said Gow.
"Obviously I'm not going to just take a team's TBL from them, so I have been hoping it will be achieved through natural attrition. Each year, the teams bring more and more equipment with them and you only have to look at the paddock areas – at some of the smaller venues, we are simply bursting at the seams. High grid numbers can also create problems on-track too: for example on the tight Indy track at Brands or at Knockhill, with the cars so evenly competitive there are just too many cars fighting for the same piece of track. So a more consolidated entry would be better for everyone in the long run.”
