HSCC 'Legends of Brands Hatch'

To some, still the HSCC 'Superprix'

One of only two or three annual chances for Historic cars to race on the full GP circuit.

To include 'Dunlop Saloon Car Cup' (Super Touring Car Challenge) races, HGPCA cars and Jaguar Challenge race.

Whatever happened to the supposed 'Race of Champions'.I heard back in 2016 they were hoping to get F1 cars involved.

Entry List on HSCC Website.

13 Cars for Jagaur Classics.Series is starting to go down hill.Yet there was 32 at Donington.Frustrating.

Only 6 Dunlop Saloon Cup cars. That won't last the season.

Nice grid in Thundersports and XL.

Good Formula Junior and Formula Ford.

The Dunlop Cup race has been opened to Historic Touring Cars (HRSR or App K spec) if there is enough interest at this late stage. Although slower than the Dunlop Cup cars they will at least increase the grid.

Jaguar drivers are notoriously slow with their entries, they'll come.

Great to see 31 cars in the HGPCA Pre 66 grid. Very Impressive.

Certainly a good looking grid Will and no fewer than four South African Formula One cars with Greg Thornton in LDS 03 and Arnout Kok in the Rauten Peugeot joining the Assegai and the Heron .

HGPCA, along with Formula Junior, is usually guaranteed to have good grids. I think the latter is almost at capacity as well. (38 track max)

Your link is to the timetable, Will. Entry list here..... https://hscc.org.uk/wp-content/uploa...per-Prix-1.pdf

Don't forget the suncream!

2 x 1 litre bottles of frozen orange squash with an electrolite tablet in each will be in my backpack if the forecast for Saturday is correct. No need for parents to drive as I'm a big boy now

As for the rest - I'd agree with what you've written.

Well, that didn't quite go to plan - despite the heat & sunshine they didn't melt as quickly as I had hoped for leaving me with two fair sized chunks of frozen orange squash at the end of the day.

Thanks for the update on the McLaren Craig - there's something about the brutal noise that it & the F5000s make that is missing from modern race car engines.

Nice relaxed day, bring on tomorrow with more good racing and some slightly cooler weather.

Roll on tomorrow.

Another thing has Michael Lyons ever been beaten in a fair fight in historics?

I attend lot's of historic meetings and I think Nick Padmore has beaten him in Historic F1 when they've both been in Williams FW07. The grey area was Padmore was running his in C spec and Michael in B spec. I have huge respect for both drivers so don't really know who is quicker. What I will say is they are both very humble and approachable chaps and a pleasure to chat to.

All the grids are in the mid 20s at least.Great to see.

The Thundersports and XL series have got better this year. The first time the Thundersports formely Pre 80 has got over 20 at this meeting since 2015

Only poor one being the Dunlop Saloon Cup which has been an unfortunate failiure.

Just a few quick ones, don't expect to see the M8f in the thundersports race tomorrow as it blew it's engine today, plus the Lotus Type25 is 50/50 after gearbox failure while leading is race

Just a little Round up:

Formula Ford-Great race in this one, especially between the classic team Merlyn's.

HGPCA-Good early dicing at the front. Heard something of a plastic bag interfering with the Bugatti. Hope the Ferrari sorts its gear issues.
Pre 66 good but as Craig says hopefully it gets sorted although I cant imagine they'll risk it.

Thundersports-Odd race as the comms says. Again as Craig says a shame the M8F had quite the issue. Team confirmed its not out tomorrow as not risking out.
Formula Junior-Fantastic race as usual with Sam Wilson, Tim De Silva and Andrew Hibberd. Looked good for Colin in his Gemini aswell.

Jaguar Classic-Well it had G Pearson in it so I think we all know what happened. Good grid though.

XL Aurora-Good grid with good pace by De Silva again in his F2 car. M Lyons as usual brilliant to watch.

Dunlop Saloon Cup-Only 8 cars but the battle for third was IMOP true touring car action and in some cases too much.

Brilliant couple of races to start the day. Small entry but close racing for 1st & 2nd and 4th & 5th in Pre 61s.
HFF just finished - side by side through Hawthorne's for the lead multiple times and good close racing throughout the field.

The issue with the Lotus 25 was fuel vapourization

Great racing so far

What another brillant day that was.

Sunday Recap.

Pre 61 R2-Another wonderful race with great battles throughout.Loved the dice between the Lister and the Ferrari.Fantastic.

FF R2-What a lovely scrap between Tarling and Jackson with finally a new winner.Reminds me of previous year FF enconters.Great battles throughout the field as usual with a nice grid aswell.

Pre 66-Very happy to see the Lotus 25 back out after fuel vaporization problems.Car sounded absouletly superb and looked just no words tbh...Brilliant race aswell.

Thundersports R2-Without the Mclaren its was kind of a one way victory but some nice looking and sounding cars.Great to see it in good health.

I won't go into detail with the rest but all were good and was a pleasure to watch as usual with the HSCC.

Nice weather, nice cars, nice circuit, nice commentary.Anyone else find the Marcus Pye not turning of his mic rather amusing with the handryer whilst Ian T was trying to go through the grid. His laugh aswell...😁.

That's all from me.On to Silverstone Classic. What a year this has been so far.
