Blancpain Endurance Series-Round Three-Spa 24hrs

Come July 30 the classic Spa Francorchamps circuit will once again host the Total Spa 24hrs, this time as part of the 2011 Blancpain Endurance Series. Gone is GT2 and now GT3 is the top class.

Here is the event poster, so much better then that other Spa poster ..

PorscheCurves should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sad that GT2 is gone but it still should be a good race. Does anyone know when we should expect see an entry list?

BTW, totally agree that this poster is way better than the spa 1000km 'poster'.

2009: Bye bye GT1
2010: Bye bye GT2
2011: Bye bye my interest!

No, seriously, it's always been a fabulous event and a nice way to close summer's endurance season. BoP-GT3 may not be very attractive as a category, but I'll watch it anyway...

I'll be there. I may even have my Bro along as an intro to 24 hour racing.

Here's hoping for a bumper entry, and close racing!

I did a search using 'Spa 24hr 2011' etc but still didnt see your thread, no offence intended.

Should be a bumper entrylist, possibly McLaren and Nissan with new cars too.

Aside from season entries we will see United Autosports with Johnny Herbert and Ecurie Ecosse with a Aston DBSR9

That'd be very cool if there is a GTR GT3 to show up there as it'd be more than them on debut.

Who would run the GTR though? Would it be Sumo Power/NISMO or a customer team?

GT-R GT3? Is it a V6 or a V8 like the GT1.5 car?

This. Seems like todays GT1s are just overweight GT2s with carbon brakes (I know its a generalisation.....)

It'd be a V8 like the GT1 car thanks to the rule that you can slot any engine from the same OEM into the engine bay (thus the V8 BMW Z4)

Some info from a little while ago regarding the Audi line ups.

Phoenix Racing
Marc Basseng/Christopher Haase/Frank Stippler
Marcel Fässler/Andrea Piccini/Mike Rockenfeller

W Racing Team
Mattias Ekström/Greg Franchi/Timo Scheider
Filipe Albuquerque/Bert Longin/Stéphane Ortelli

Full article- http://audidallasblog.com/dtm-stars-...e-audi-r8-lms/

Some pretty strong line ups but the one that stands out for me is the Fassler, Piccini, Rockenfeller Phoenix car.

Pretty good marketing, notice how those drivers named are the same drivers in the LMP2 car? And that its really just a vinyl job on an otherwise stock GTR? I'll place my bets on it being a JRM/Sumo Power GT program.

It just looks like a stock GTR too me. There was no aero kits and it seemed like there was no roll chage. I'd say it was a press car with the livery they are going to run on the GT3 car.

I see nothing that connects this in anyway to the GT3, just looks like a Signatech Press car.

I have to agree with you. Besides with Nismo building the car I'd expect them to run it seeing as though the car is still in its development.

I like it, and agreed Mitch. That wing beats out the FIA GT Lambo from a couple years back for the title of world's largest wing on a GT car.

8 cars having to go on the "waiting list" - that is incredible.

No sign of that F1 team who were going GT racing, but looks like we have a couple of prams entered.
