JJ Lehto´s first DTM race
just wanted to say that JJ qualified 21 for A1Ring-race
he said that the cars are comletely different from the dtm-cars back in the days and he has still problems with the tyres it will be his only dtm race for this year but I hope he will stay for next season |

For the race at Zandvoort it was thought that Yves Olivier would get back the seat that was taken by Lehto in Austria.
But instead of Olivier OR Lehto it is be Eric Helary that will drive the 2nd Astra of the Euroteam. |

Since Euroteam is a Independent team I think, are the drivers getting the rides b/c they are paying or is it on their ability?

Well from what I heard the management of Opel Belgium said some nasty things about Opel Germany.
That's rumoured to be the reason that Yves Olivier lost his seat. |

NO offence to Yves but he isn't the best driver in the world. I think Helary will do well for the team.

OTOH, can Opel Belgium really complain if Opel Germany is paying the motorsport bill?? Is that how it's setup this year? Perhaps Opel Belgium should buy a used Astra next year and select their own driver? How about a "Team Opel Belgium" entry--a la ETCC BMW??
That was the same reason Toyota South Africa pulled out of the SA ST series? The only way they were going to continue with ST was if Toyota NA was going to race the Camry as well. But Toyota was too slow in deciding. Last edited by kmchow; 24 Sep 2002 at 19:41. |
