Private testing

Mornin', trust you're all up good and early to watch Aus GP.

Does anyone here know of anywhere in the Essex area where I might be able to do some testing? On private roads, abandoned airfields etc? My budget for testing before the first round "accidently" got swallowed up by the winter refurb, so I'm trying to do it on the cheap.

Cheers y'all.

North Weald is an airfield, as is Debden [think that's Essex still] - they both run sprints there, it may be worth giving them a call to see if they do allow any private testing? Afraid I'm not sure if they do or not.

North weald will be out unless you've got public liability insurance of 5million, Then it was £250 for a 100m x 35m area about 3 years ago.

I heard a company called MDV could rent Bradwell on sea airfield. Don't know the number but try google. I've always used gosfield.

Elvington Airfiled runs sprints and trackdays and used to be used by some F1teams for straightline shakedown testing (probably still is).

Thanks vjay.

I spoke to Clive today and he was very amenable, so I'll be doing a bit of a shakedown on Thursday afternoon.

That's very interesting information. Muchos gracias!

Bruntingthorpe is (was) £50/hr, though it can get tedious on that 2 mile straight when running-in!! Great for flat-out blasts though! And you have to be quiet, or the nimby's get upset.

I spoke to Clive the other day about doing some straight line testing, does anybody know how smooth it is?? smooth enough to run a small sport prototype car down?
