Just watched the races at La Rioja. If I remember well it's a long time ago since Chevrolet has won.

Yes, it would make more sense, in fact there are a couple of "not official" VW Jettas at the back of the grid.

The team is LSG, the one that is 1st and 2nd in the TC championship (Ponce de Leon and Moriatis). The fact that they could be using Audis doesnt mean they will be an "official" team.

Changes for 2011: the Endurance Series and starting grid handicaps for championship leaders will be dropped. Also, race format will be changed to two heat sprint races (dunno whether with split or full grids) and one feature race, with some exceptions as usual.

News state Pechito LĂłpez should remain at Petrobras Honda Team for 2011 even another petrol company is sponsoring him at Turismo Carretera and Top Race V6.

GM works team will replace the Vectra with the Cruze (that will be sold in Argentina next year) for 2011 season.

Also today there is a test in Buenos Aires to prepare teams and guest drivers for the next race here. WTCC champion will be driving PechitoÂŽs Honda.

Ford-YPF’s Gabriele Ponce De León was fastest on Tuesday’s test, as WTCC driver Gabriele Tarquini sampled the Honda Civic he’ll race at the 200km endurance event in November for the first time.

The test is one of a limited number of test days allowed all season, and drivers can run use new sets of tyres, or if they prefer to save them run on old tyres for the session.

With many teams bringing their endurance pairings to the test, there were a total of 51 drivers at the session, meaning some drivers got to do more running than others.

Tarquini ran on used tyres in the Honda Civic prepared by Equipo Petrobras, and was able to set 12 laps which saw him 34th, 3.2s down on the fastest lap set by Ponce de Leon.

The fastest driver on used tyres was Emiliano Spataro in the Fiat Linea, ninth overall and 0.7s down on the Ford driver.

MatĂ*as Rossi in the Lo-Jack Renault MĂ©gane was second fastest, with the second Ford of Norberto Fontana third and the TTA Toyota Corolla fourth.

Championship leader Leonel PernĂ*a was eighth fastest in the Civic.

The TC2000 is visiting Centenario in Neuquén this weekends. It will be the second round of the Endurance Series. There will be two 30km or 15min heat races with split grids, a format last used in TC2000 in 2005, and a 150km or 70min feature race. Only the feature race will award points, using the extended scale as with the other two Endurance Series races (32-21-16-12...).

This race format (two heats with split grids and a feature race) is discussed to be used in most 2011 TC2000 rounds.

The race shows that Europeans don't need 25min races to have interesting fights. The first five or seven laps were especially amazing.

Mauro Giallombardo is the 22-year-old 2010 TC Pista comfortable leader (212.5 points vs 165 for the second placed driver). He's the second youngest FR1.6 race winner with 16 years. He dominated the TC Mouras in 2008 and finished 3rd in 2009 TC Pista.

Belatti should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I would like to.

But after the last 2 hour endurance race at Termas de Rio Hondo, it was said in the media that Argentinian audience gets bored with long races and "weird" strategies, so there will only be 40 minute races from now on, like there has always been. This race would be the only exception.

Argies donÂŽt like formulas, endurance races and hi-tech cars. Thats the way it is.

Me and other very few Argentines are the exception. Sad but true.

I can imagine they prefer sprint races for the regular season but a standalone endurance race with international drivers is great. Inviting international well known drivers is good for the status of Argentinian motorsport.
