Dr. Austin should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Ford MKIV by IXO

I've had a request to post some pictures of the IXO Ford MKIV. This is the car which won the 1967 LeMans race, driven by the incomparable pair of AJ Foyt and Dan Gurney.

This is a superb model in 1/43 scale. to me, it looks just right. Everything is exactly like thye photographs i have of the car. It is dirt cheap at around $30 US. IXO now makes all four cars from teh 1967 race. I am hoping that they also do the 1967 Sebring Andretti/McLaren car.

here is the tail. See the spare tire and the regulation "suitcase." The tailights look correct and the detail is pretty good.

And while there does not appear to be much engine detail, this is exactly what the cars looked like. also notice the rear window frame and rivets. Very nicely done. I am really happy with this model.

Even the wheels are very nicely done. The blue stripe on the tire is correct and a very realistic touch. And the knock-off is quite good as well.

And here are the very well done headlights. notice the turn indicators and headlight cover bolts/rivets. Also notice the red outline on the numbers. This is something that other MK IV models have failed to capture.

So, i have no reservation in reccommending this model. It is utterly superb. Of course, a Marsh factory built metal kit is going to be nicer, but it is also $200 more and not worth it for all but the most deadly serious collectors.

Ford fans, gere it is. Order today so you don't miss out;

I'm sure the intention was good, but the background does distract from the car. No need to repost as I have seen the model now. Just maybe in future you revert to the plain background, or maybe other model cars in your collection from the same race.

I do have some info on that race which I might try to dig out. It was a very unlikley pairing a US star and F1 star with very little endro racing between them. They knew no other way apart from almost flat out the whole race.

" the background does distract from the car."

I was too lazy to take it out of the showcase to photograph it. Sorry.

"Just maybe in future you revert to the plain background,"

I'm really just learning how to use this camera. I plan to set up my lights and background to photograph all my models, but everything takes time.

This photo is more the kind of photography I plan to take. This is also an instant contrast. This is the Starter factory built MK IV. They go for around $75-80 US. So by looking at them both, it is easy to see why I am so pleased with the IXO.

This photo was taken awhile back with one of the first generation digital cameras. Not only is the resolution poor, the depth of field is extremely narrow. I don't really know what all that means except it doesn't take very good pictures. The new camera is much better.

Yes. That's a Minichamps. We all thought is was so cool back then, but now it kind of looks goofey!

The GT40 always had style. The J-cars were a little angular, but they were cool. The MKII's had that badass look with the scoops and big nostrils. It was good-looking in a smashmouth sort of way.

The MKIV just looked sooo right. It was so smoothe and flowing.
