Romano- what the...?

The amount of rumors going round the paddok still is amazing.

The latest is the fact that Larry Perkins still wants to run three cars but the new franchise rules stop him from doing that. Romano has still been very quiet about his plans leading up to Clipsal, as far as I know nothing has been offically launched or said.

This could just be me thinking too much, I tend to think Im just putting 2 and 2 together, but it wouldnt be the first time Larry's been involved with this particualr franchise (being the ex-McDougall franchise) and would be the perfect opportunity for Larry to get young Fabian Coulthard in a third car, which was his original plans.

I think Im on to somthing.

Thoughts? (sevi?)

I think you will find you are half right. LP will be looking after another car, but it will be used by another recently ex driver and a looked after by former team owner.

Indeed, but Romano should be behind the wheel of his own car again.

Nothing will change from the entry list for the Clipsal..

So basically what everyone seems to be saying is that Forbes will move aside for his franchise slot to go to Longhurst, who will run a third Perkins car under "Rod Nash Racing". Any truth to that?

I didn't put the whole story up because it was on here only a couple of weeks ago.
The rumour atm is Longhurst in a Perkins built and prepared car, using Forbes franchise with Nash running the team.

That was the original noise but it seems that that series is getting over subscribed, and a driver or two that think they may be in over the heads have seats for sale

I understand that Messrs Longhurst and Nash shared the #25 MG at the Wakefield 500 on Saturday. The car DNF'd but indeed it strengthens the tie-in, and the need for the latter to get some mileage up for Bathurst

From What I was told on Wednesday, this deal is all but dead in the water. One of the reasons given was that more than one of the parties involved including a sponsor read about it here on Ten Tenths when the deal was only in its infancy. This caused a bit of a rift relating to loose lips sinking ships etc and its been put to bed for for the moment, or so I am led to believe.

The deal has been known around the industry since early January. If the Nash consortium cant keep their traps shut then bad luck for them.

LP had Nash as a garage annoyance at the weekend so I would say the deal is still going ahead.

If the rumours are right, Nash tried to rent Romano's franchise for the weekend to race a CPR car at Adelaide but was rebuffed by the Bapster

What are you suggesting TM, that nobody says anything until it is official? They will be very quite forums then, wouldn't they. The stuff I don't post is what could possibly "harm" deals or does not really have a leg to stand on. I post informative info when I am allowed to, well most of the time anyway. I believe my answer to the question was, "if it goes ahead", and like someone said, it has been around since early in the year, it is not exactly like we jumed straight on the net with it.
Also if this is what you are saying, I recall you being one of the biggest gossipers, awhile back.

If some of these people had proper media relationships that circulated truthful news regularly, the speculation would be much reduced

$30k for the rent of a franchise slot is more money (maybe double) than the franchise income would be for the weekend.... assuming the car finished and got points

Looks like Paul Romano won't be at Philip Island but his franchise will be with another Qld'er driving a similar car in it's place.
