I'm afraid I'll most likely be changing a gearbox. Sorry

Yep, I'll be testing.
If Hugh wants to ponce some space in the garage he's more than welcome if he doesn't have one of his own. Trying to get as much done in the AM as possible, before the place gets swamped in the afternoon. Stacy |

Friday testing was too expensive for me but I managed to blag a place on a SELOC Track Day on Tuesday, £50 for loads of track time, open pit. Probably no good for the quicker Group One cars but apparently the Elises all lap in about 1 minute so my Golf will be in good company.
Good to hear Hugh will be out again. Of course this is all dependent on the Golf being in one piece - it is currently lying in a lock up garage somewhere with no gearbox. |

I thought the £250 odd was a bit rich on friday for 4x25 mins especially as one session will be scrubbing in the new tyres so I bagged the last but one place on easytracks Thursday 9 til 5 day about the same price but so much more time and it'll great to see those skyline drivers faces when the old girl goes blasting past them through Paddock !- Although it is on the GP circuit I figured it might be the only time I get to drive the full tour what with all the rumours etc...

Only problem for me is that it's an operation to move base camp, and I don't think I've got the enthusiasm to move the operation down there and then all the way back, only to repeat the exercise at the weekend. Also Team Thirtyfive staff are using up their holiday allowance at the other meetings.. The other problem is that in that 25m session there will be Radicals. And therefore experience tells us, red flags. In the afternoon there will not be a clear lap either.. I have to say I'm only going because I've setup a few things on the car to try, and want to know if they make a difference before qualifying. I've just refitted the exhaust which had a problem, and a few other bits, and run it up today, no problems apparent. Just a couple more things to check and then I'll be ready to trailer up Thursday hopefully. Stacy |

Hmmph. Just called the gearbox place (where the car has been since Thruxton so I've checked nothing yet) and he wasn't planning to have it read til later in the week. May have to do the track day in a mates Cerbera instead - I'll get track familiarity but it'll hardly be like driving the Golf. Never driven Brands Hatch with 5 gears so I don't even know what gear all the corners are.
Yet another **** poor preparation for a big race weekend. |

Console yourself with the thought there will be 20,000+ people to see you race at the weekend! (well that's assuming this year brings in as many people as previous years)

Mind you, getting drivers in the Kentagon at that time of day will be difficult. We may have to wait until they visit us in person during the day (bringing their cars with them!).
So, who is up for breakfast in the Kentagon 7.30am Saturday morning? |

Well done Stacy, it's only a fiver (the breakfast that is). Teletubby and Gonfra can give you the low down on the sweets/cake load the rescue unit will be carrying during the day

A few points:
1. I'm 'being important' in Race Control this weekend! 2. Stacy, you really don't want to meet the crew on the units, even for donuts unless you make a special trip you'll only meet them in circumstances where you may not be in the best frame of mind! 3. 7:30 in the Kentagon is fine, see you there! |

This 'race control' thing is becoming a habit. Can I offer a larger hat M'Lud?

It's only at Brands! If I geta bigger hat it'll fall down over my eyes, so obscuring my vision. Perfect Observer material then!

well this gets it back up the list
Weather forecast - a little early to be confident but looks like we need to pump up the wets... 90% chance of rain on Friday, 60% on Sat / Sun. Of course may change over next couple of days - lets hope so. |

Fantastic track day on Tuesday courtesy of the South East Lotus Owners club. The Golf was about Elise paced in the dry, quickest thing on the circuit in the wet.
Unfortunately we spent alot of the afternoon session sorting out mechanical gremlins but we still managed best part of 50 laps each in pouring rain, dampness and finally just about completely dry. Because of the weather I still didn't manage the magical sub 1 min lap but its something to aim for if the weather holds on Sunday. Of course I'll be hoping for a mega downpour just before Group One qualifying.... Anyone pulled out of CT yet? Steve (driving my Golf) is still 1st reserve as far as we know. |
