FIA GT FIA GT3 no news???

Isn´t it a bit odd not having rumours or facts being discussed about the soon to be launched GT3 series ?
there must be some guys around working on projects....
with Reiter having the Gallardo ,Zakspeed (Nitec?) doing the viper.....and who´s going to prepare the TVR´s?

well, the formal annoucment will come on December 2nd during the FIA meeting. Hopefully we will know more then. The good thing is that the Porsche cup car and Viper are already developed , and the Reiter Lambo Gallardo is in development. I think this championship is going to be very interesting and could provide some great racing.

oh yes , all of those are developed as well.

so that doesnt leave us with many that are not out there already. I just hope the Saleen Mustang gets to the grid too!

I'm hoping we'll get some current cars too - GT3 in Britain has seen the likes of the BMW ZM Coupe, Morgan Aero 8, Marcos Mantis, Lotus Elise...

As for the Zakspeed Vipers ...am I wrong???
As for the elise ...Morgan etc...don´t forget you need 6 cars to be built....and as these lack in terms of potential,one has to fear the weight of the good ones will have to be increased dramatically......ouch..

marcush - I should think the Marcos Mantis should be alright on that one because quite a number were made for it's own series supporting BGT in the powertour days. I thought there were quite a lot of Elises lying around, the road car seems pretty commonplace these days. I could easily be wrong on all this, though.

Shame the TVR 400's dropped out of the British GTseries earlier this year, i heard it was something to do with noise regulations at castle combe.It was nice to see something new and they were getting some decent results. Hopefully the TVR's will come back.

The Elise is a little toy ,not more or do you speak of the Exige 400 running in the east?
I don´t know if there are plans to do more than the one already built....it has nothing to do with a Elise....apart from the basic frame structure.

Well, perhaps people who want to drive GT3 and national GT with the same car. But that needs a very good calendar work of all the different championships

Even if the calender would match, how many Gentlemen driver will have time and money to race in national AND FIA GT3 ?

And seeing as how there is a limit on the number of a specific chassis each manufacturer can have in the series, how will that work in relation to drivers and teams wanting to dip in and out of the FIA series?

Its meant to bring manufacturers back into GT racing. I can see it more as a hook to get them to turn their backs on GT3 in a few years and move into GT2 and GT1, which will mean lots of money and no racing for the drivers that want it.

I'm not sure there isn't so much a limit as there is a minimum requirement which I think is a great idea. Making sure each manufacturer provides at least six cars spread across two teams ensures that a manufacturer brings a significant contribution to the series.

On paper it sounds like a great idea, we'll just have to wait and see if manufacturers and gentleman drivers go for it.

Are you sure that this is the only reason?

From 2002-2004 the CARE F550 dominates the GT1 ... but their are cars.
Freisinger and GruppeM starts in the LMES ... but there are full GT2 grids. Why?

I am not sure, i wrote "for me", not for everybody.

We have "managed racing" in GT1 now (but only for cars faster then the Prodrive 550), GT3 is a Cup race with different cars witch are all managed to one level.

GT3 is a support race. I can't see the problem with that.

GT1 and GT2 OTOH have proven yet again that GTs are a joke in a standalone international top-series and should get back to their role as mouthwatering gridfillers for sportscar races.

Frankly, what is the difference of GT1 with the GT3 in FIA-GT as of now?

GT3 Fia will be officially presented on Dec.2 in Monaco. Cars will run the day after at Le Castellet HTTT in order for FIA to gather data and put all cars at the same level of performance.
