In the BTCC only works drivers get paid.

The others only can get money, through prize money.

I heard that in 1999 the lowest paid works driver was on £120,000(Cleland i think) and the highest was on £500,000(Menu). Don't know what their on now. Hope that helps.

I expect Muller to be the highest earner these days in the BTCC as he has carried on since Super Touring to the new regs. Other drivers might get something, but I think even Clelands wage in 1999 would be considered high these days.

Salaries will have plummeted for BTCC drivers. Muller was the last of the highly paid, but his 3 year deal ran out last year - so for 2002 he will be on very different terms.

I would guess that £100,000 is the very most a driver will get (probably Muller - although this is a third of his previous salary).

Probably - Priaulx, Hughes, Morrison & Bennett will be on very low salaries plus a road car. The vast majority of the grid will be paying to drive in some form or another.

I would also guess that payment terms was/is another stumbling bloke regarding Plato getting a drive. I can't see him wanting to drive for less than last year - which makes it hard for him to get a drive.

BTCC salaries ...

I know that last year's btcc champion was on £1m for a 2 year deal ... before he won the championship! Don't think he's driving this year.
