If we had to guess who the four might go to...?

Feels like Dempsey Proton have positioned themselves well. Have said they are interested and have an increased relationship with Multimatic in the last 18 months.

Not sure who else or how the privateer split could be, WEC vs IMSA.

Agree on Proton with Harry Tincknell surely in the frame to drive.

The big losers from Audi's no show are WRT. They won't want to pay all those millions to run the car but could they feature somehow?

Among lmp2 private teams I think only united could spend >10 mln € a car per season. Other big lmp2 like WRT and jota would need a huge main sponsor backup. That's why I never believed in private friendly lmdh fairy tale.

Proton is the only team I can think of that will likely be there for 23. I'm struggling to come up with any teams in IMSA that might be takers.

They could, but they either stump up or look for an opening with Lamborghini stateside. I can't see much else going for them.

Would love BMW to get a bit more serious about Europe again and get WRT to run their hypercars and elevate their GT3 efforts a bit.

I think any manufacturer can do a lot worse than get a team like WRT to run them. They probably would be easy to persuade too

Some more about the Porsche testing program. They realize the advantage they have by being on track first, but they are also, in effect, testing all the components their competitors will use with the hybrid systems, so it is difficult as well.

not a 1:1 perfect comparison since there is no timing for both but if you take that porsche onboard clip and then this toyota onboard

both of them take exactly 20 seconds from the moment they start breaking before la source to the moment they run over right kerb after exiting eau rouge.
Porsche seems to run on rails on la source with a better traction, toyota seems a little more flat out at eau rouge

Penske only wants to run 2 cars for Le Mans in 23.

But customer cars are still going to be available.

We did! Spotted it, snuck up the steps to take a picture. Then the PR lady came running over and shut all the blinds. And later in the week I noticed there was some more 'beefed up' security present let's say.

But yeah, obviously a few potential customers must have had appointments. Think we could see plenty of these on the grid by '24.
