Difficult choice for them I'm sure, and I'd hate to be the person who has to say "no" but the way that homologation works, you can't afford to get it too wrong. Which may be an argument that homologation needs to be slightly reconsidered in terms of an "on ramp" for very new cars, otherwise we'll see this play out regularly. There's no easy answer, but maybe something like front-loading an increased number of "change tokens", would help to soften the impact.

2023 is going to be quite a year, although I suspect that it's also going to be a lot more traditionally attritional than we're used to of late - there's going to be a fair number of cars trying 24 hours in anger for effectively the first time (private simulations don't really ever quite do it). I can see a lot of parked up hypercars next year...

Presumably Peugeot has already paid their full season entry and so the ACO will let them in for a partial season? But the situation with ByKolles wanting to run not a full season is different, right?

Sounds like ByKolles have trademark issues above and beyond any amount of rounds they wanted to enter.

I think I said it elsewhere, Peugeot's situation is the reverse of some other privateers, in that they aren't trying to exploit the calendar to get more bang for their buck. They are willingly shooting themselves in the foot by foregoing the biggest races.

I agree with you that the scenarios are a bit different. And that is why I guessed that Peugeot have paid the full season entry for 2 cars, plus whatever other activation the ACO requires of manufacturers.

The ACO did go out of their way a few months ago to make sure it was known that no partial season (or individual race) entries would be allowed. I thought it was a strange move at the time, just in case a scenario like this played out.

Unfortunate from a spectating point of view, but not really surprising. They can't afford to blow their permitted upgrades fixing a rushed homologation.

Nice to see they are still testing in the meantime, the car looks quick. But we'll have to see how far they have come when 2023 approaches

At the end of this week(friday 20th may)Peugeot will reveal in Portugal the official 9X8 with its painting(official livery), should announce the program for this year(possibly Monza 6 hours in july)and of course the new driver who replaces Kevin Magnussen
