Can you claim the sponsorship as a donation, then claim the tax on the expense of that donation?
If you can... In theory you could claim that it costs $500k to run the car, that a spot on the car = 20% of the running cost and claim it back as a donation? |

Does anyone know when the draw for the Silouette car is made? I've seen the car with "Win Me" stickers on it since early November (almost 5 months ago) and haven't seen anything on the website about it....[/QUOTE]Chappelli
A winner will be announced...maybe... A bit different from all those other posted 'winners' of the past... You see it would mean actually giving away the 'prize'...and a very public prize that old Aussie Ford $1.00 car... The predicament is...I reckon...IF a winner is announced...aren't people gunna wonder why big D is still driving the thing? A bit different to the Auctions Winners and Raffle Ticket purchasers of the past...A silent majority... Even if a name can be conjured up, the site of the car after an announcement will perhaps lead to interesting questions Eh? Rest assured if a story to suit the occasion can be found..an announcement will be made... Hear ye hear ye...The winner of our most fabulous Falcon has kindly donated his/her prize back to our most charitable organisation in recognition of the sterling work we have put in this past 10 years in introducing the young talent of NZ Motorsport and the the glorious future we have provided them...or something along these lines...perhaps... Just have to wait and see...Like all the other 'Winners'... BTW...If you 'Raffle' a road vehicle as a prize, doesn't it have to be legal...compliant? Maybe thats the 'hold up'... Either that or maybe the raffle hasn't raised enough to freehold the prize... |

"Explain?" IMO...the logic involved here...this "racing?" entity ...$$$$...! The wondersite and its expositions... Setting up the 'deals'...presenting an image... I'd say..Leasing a car...Setting it up so a 'new' driver can have a shot at furthering the dream...a rookie, who can pay... EASY...Anyone who can put the dollars down can compete in this series...Obviously. Young Matt and his crew are driven by a passion for racing ...as are all the former 'stars' in Big Ds past... So no doubt given the spiel to..."make a commitment to the team"... they have stumped up the $$$ purportedly required...and off they go, racing...ANYWHERE... I've never met a racer yet who said, Oh yeah, I wanna go racing...but not there, It's too trickey or risky... NEVER,successful racing is full on,the guys and gals who race go all out, that's what it's all about, meeting the challenges head on and giving it their best shot... To give the 'new' driver a real racetrack to get blooded in V8s, of no consideration IMO...more about furthering the dreams of the 'team'...a one man bands attempts at gathering revenue... exploiting an illusion... "no disrespect to Matt, he has shown he is a capable open-wheel/kart racer, but i somehow knew this weekend would end in tears, which is very unfortunate for his self-esteem, and probably his wallet"...smokin'joe I couldn't agree more. But then, as it stands, when it comes to "selecting" the next new rising star...NZ has provided a ripe venue for choices Eh... Although it must be getting more difficult to find marks that haven't heard the word regarding Big Ds "reliability"... Probably explains his recent shift to targeting younger drivers Eh? Chappelli said it... "Exactly... If the kid's paying for the damage why not throw him at the streets? It's a win win for DJ... He gets the ball rolling with the V8 Supercar come back to V8 Supercars, with no risk if the kid walls it..." can't argue with his logic... I can't help but think that by now the honemoon must be about over for young Mathew,Ryan and their supporters...As by now no doubt, they have gained an insight of the 'awareness' of those who have preceeded them in being delt to by Big Ds "don't stop till you've got it all" style. Can anyone tell me... For Australian purchases/invoices/accounts paid from NZ by NZ credit card holders...inevitably subject to providing the reciepts of such payments...Are claims on expenses made here or NZ ? Conversly, if one has Aussie registered companies are such invoicings/transactions/revenues transferable from NZ and claimable over here? Assuming one is tax registered, and filing returns... |

I think the Petch and Scott crew should look back further in their glass house before throwing stones . Try 1991 DJR Sierra for instance. Interesting !!!!

Quite what that has to do with TKR and Townsville... I'm not sure.
I'm just interested to hear what's going on with TKR... I was under the impression that they were "whole seasoning it". Website down for a week plus also suggests there might be more of that TKR drama we've heard so much about. |

Is Matty White square? One would hope so.
There's another story or two about some funds owed - merchandise is one. |

I doubt that TKR would have been on anything but a cash up front deal given their previous history. TKR retained the original PE035 chassis, although this may have since changed.

They also have an ex PWR AU chassis, repanelled up as a BF (which they acquired at the time they switched to Fords). I assume that is sitting in the TKR shed with the ex Perkins VX.

Axeman, unfortunately no one has taken the steps necessary yet to stop the public at large from being fleeced, although a website that is down is a solid start.
There is some specualtion that says that the time may be coming alongside some discussion about another bout of legal action involving an apparel supplier. |

Sharing my 2 cents
Just sharing my 2 cents worth
As one of Team Kiwi Racing drivers this season in the BMW Mini Challenge series David John provided and delivered to both myself and Matthew Hamilton everything he said he would there were never any problems getting parts or anything and we won the Championship and took out second place as well. I do believe he provides opportunities for people like me who don’t have a huge back ground of wealth to give us a shot. If you look at every kiwi driver that races in the v8 supercar main game at some point apart from Murphy has been in the TKR car. Knowing many of the drivers as I do first hand I know that TKR has funded a majority of all these drives. I’m not saying there might not be a cheeked past there and I don’t know the full story by any means. But I would like to thank David John and the backers of Team Kiwi Racing for putting the faith into me this year while no one else was offering to do so to allow me to drive one of his cars for the season. I think you will find if you ask most of the other ex TKR drivers they will say the same thing. Ryan Bailey |

A good point, and for the avoidance of doubt as a moderator I have access to additional information. On the basis of that allaces registration is consistent with him being who he says he is.
In which case, welcome to the forum. |

I am who I say I am and your more than welcome to PM me and ill give my cell number and we can have a chat. As I said I am not getting involved in this **** fight and everyone has the right to there own thoughts and opinion. I have nothing against that but I was only bushing over what I have been threw with Daivd forgetting about the Mans history as I had nothing to do with him before the race season that has just been and I went into it with a open mind I and achieved everything I wanted too learning the south island tracks which I had never been to before and Matt pushing me to my limits all season.
Thanks Ryan |

Fair enough Ryan,I enjoyed watching you and Mathew showing your stuff.
The chequed past you refer to started long before you left school. Your offer to PM and discuss issues by phone was used by David a year or so back on a "David John answers your questions" thread on another forum. As apposed to answering questions on line.Talking with you wont pay creditors will it? The grammar...to do so,provides opportunities,v8 main game, this ****fight etc leaves me a bit suspicious. I too know many former drivers, crews, their families, suppliers, sponsors and supporters first hand. Both here and in Aussie, they do not share your sentiments. Having witnessed the damage done by your benefactor to many good folk I have to say, I do not like his or his accomplices style. You are one voice in the wilderness...and I can't repeat here what Murph had to say. Either way,Congratulations Ryan on a very succesful season and best wishes to you and Mathew for your futures. Well done. Other voices out there lead me to believe there are indeed more court cases heading the teams way,and for the same the old reasons to boot...and a whisper, allegedly, one, not of civil origin. Assuming I haven't been misinformed. |
