Fiorentina 1 should be qualifying in the top 5 on the gridFiorentina 1 should be qualifying in the top 5 on the grid
Former Formula One driver Michele Alboreto was killed today during testing, Italian Press Agency ANSA reports.
Alboreto was killed at the Lausitzring circuit in Germany while he was preparing for this year's Le Mans 24 Hour race, driving an Audi R8.

I always liked Alboreto, ever since I saw him win at Las Vegas when I was 8...I one of the last 'old school' drivers. he raced anything, anytime....

Rest In Peace!

Agh, we just saw him triumphant at Sebring, and before that he was laughing it up with the boys in the SV broadcast booth during the TMS race, charismatic as ever. this is just too sudden. First Wolleck, now this.

Very sad loss. This year, motor racing has lost Dale Earnhardt and Michele Alboreto. It has been a very sad year.

Sadly we have lost more than two drivers this year

If you go over to the F1 forum, there is another Michele Alboreto topic going, and you are invited to post any photos of Michele there as a tribute.

What can I say but that i am deeply shocked and saddened by what has happened to Alboreto, he was one of my favorite sportscar drivers and he will be sorely missed.

May Michele R.I.P

Another of our generation gone on ahead. What a shocker that was...there's always that moment of disbelief when I'd like to think someone is trying to get a rise out of us or reporting a rumour ... and then it becomes clear that this time, yet again, it is true.

God be with his teammates, his family and everyone at Audi at this very tough time.

I know that there is always a risk in motor racing in any form but how exactly does the best sports car around at the moment flip over several times?? If it is that good , how did they miss that the car could roll?? The car was traveling in a straight line too! It is the same thing as with the CLR [Mercedes] they did over 2000km of testing and somehow missed the fact that the car would fly , even when they were warned. Luckily no one was hurt then. Plus this isn't a one off. I was watching automagazine on Eurosport before it happened and I saw a Cappello helmet that survived when the car rolled over and dragged him along on his head.
