Anyway congrats to Bottas, on his second pole of the season. Can he translate that into another win? |

Based on the coverage, it seemed female fans dominated the stands.
Poor Valtteri. When Hammy takes pole, Toto et al. go ballistic when the cameras are on them. Bottas takes the pole and it's just smiles. The only person(s) who have Valtteri's back are the guys in his garage and it pretty much ends there. It was evident in Toto's interview where he didn't seem ecstatic being 1-2. Disappointment was written all over his face... Sent from my SM-G955W using Tapatalk |

Is it too early to start talking about Mercedes backing Bottas for the season? Is Hamilton's reign at Mercedes over?

Way too early indeed. But equally it is way too early to discount him.
I think it is smart for the top teams to bet on their 2 horses as long as they are close together and only start giving preferrential treatment to 1 of them as soon as the other has fallen (way) behind. Quote:

It's anyone's game (well, within reason. Kubica and Russell are probably long shots..... ).

The last run of Q3 was a mess.
That just had to happen at some moment. If every team waits until the last possible moment to make that 2nd run, someone is going to lose out in the end. Today that were 4 "someones". Instead of blaming all others, Verstappen should blame his team. They could have sent him out a bit earlier instead but didn't. There are 12 minutes of Q3 and that is more than enough time to do outlap - qually lap - inlap - change tires - outlap. At least Magnussen was quite realistic in his assessment and didn't blame Vettel, Hulkenberg or Ricciardo - instead he said they did the right thing. |

It was refreshing to see Leclerc take the blame himself. However that isn’t the norm in motto racing drivers, or indeed people.
He and his team could have come up with a better, less risky, plan. However Verstappen is a person, a motor racing striver and a Verstappen so it will always be someone else’s fault. |

In all seriousness, when he actually does something stupid Verstappen always takes the blame. |

I know, I know, I've done that before, but still: he's a hot headed hotshoe and needs to calm down just a bit, then he could be the genius within. |

It's just daunting for Bottas knowing that not only does he have to beat his team mate, he has to beat his employer as well.

Bottas isn't silly/stupid.. He joined Merc for a lot of money compared to our salaries knowing he had LH there. I saw the documentary.. He stated he was at Merc because he knew he could beat LH..
Except Merc is built around LH.. Refer to Rubens/Eddie..who's the fool? Damn good money as No2 if you can get it for a few years, as Eddie Irvine laughs now.. Good on you Bottas.. I'm jealous.. |

As for Mr Verstappen, he fully accepted the blame for his rather stupid mistakes at the beginning of last year. Especially after that disgraceful performance at this track last year. Perhaps his comments didn't make it to this forum? |

Are we in pointless argument territory again? I suppose that floats some people's boat.

Close at the top, so hope could be an interesting race- especially the first lap. Just got to decide whether to waste the afternoon watching highlights or catch up later...... |

Verstappen spins it on the warm up lap. Looks like Kubica did the same.

That was a very clean start, Lewis taking the lead. Looks like Kvyat clouted both McLarens after Turn 6.
