Chad Reed to V8 Supercars? (merged)
Chad Reed has hinted that he would like to race MotoGP or, which he said he would perhaps like to do more, race V8 Supercars.
Personally I think the is no room for him in the current V8 Paddock unless anyone signs him because of his status (which may I remind you is mainly a US fanbase), so I don't think there is a chance of him racing here in the near future unless someone gets really desperate. |

Aren't Yamaha a sponsor of HRT? Could we maybe see him as next years prize recruit, a la Courtney & Briscoe?

Wouldn't that be the 2008 list, after FPR poach him to replace Briscoe, based on Chad's performance in the 2007 enduros @ HRT?

If Bazz and Mick Doohan can hop from bikes into Supercars, why can't Reed to it?

Johnny Ceccotto did O.K. in a Touring Car. Graham Crosby was good.

Captain Chaos... Yes, I remember him all too well.
Not many bike riders have had a successful move to four wheels, except Valentino Rossi, who seems damn near invicible on two or four wheels. |

Hansford won at Bathurst, and was certainly 'up the pointy end' more often than 'The Captain mk2'. I'd say Hansford made the transition easier & faster than some others. A tragic loss, at a circuit that still has not implemented the Victorian Coroner's reccomendations, from the Hansford inquest. |

John Surtees and Mike Hailwood spring to mind as well as good bike riders who turned successfully for car racing.
Johnny Cecotto, Wayne Gardner, Graeme Crosby and Gregg Hansford as mentioned all made the switch successfully as well. Quote:
On topic, i wasn't of the opinion that Chad Reed was all that serious when he made the comment. |

Sports Tonight just showed Chad in a V8 Supercar up at the PMM workshops (the Holden Performance Driving Centre). A sign of things to come?

How old is he ? I thought I heard 24 but that doesnt seem right at all ?
Maybe a sign of things to come in 10 or 15 years. Funny RC just signed a Nascar deal aswell. |

Good on him for taking a current model Supercar fresh from 6th at Bathurst for a burn... and from the account Mr Morris shared, he is impressed with the guy behind the wheel.
No reason Mr Reed cant come to V8Supercar... he has sustained many injuries in motorcross... so a switch to cars would have to be infinitely better than falling off the bike.. as well as the jolts, jerks and bumps sustained in the course of normal competition... |

He is quite intent on making Supercross into something of a mainstream sport here in Oz, he is coming back to race here next year by the looks. Whatever happened to SEL's involvement in Supercross by the way?

$US 1.5 mil helmet sponsorship
This lad is heading back to the US to earn a quid .... $US 7.8 mil is being reported - does any team in Aus have a TOTAL budget anywhere near this?

i think in he might do the enduro events as he realy would like to race v8's if it dosn't colide with his schedule, and that wouldn't effect his financial status and that way he can keep making his millions in the US with the bikes and make an annual apperance (schedule aproving) in the enduro's.

Chad just signed a contract with Nike that he himself said was valued between 1 and 2 million, so as cavvy says, he is certainly doing well for himself. Whilst on bike riders, I reckon Shawn Giles would go OK in cars as well, he carried himself well at the GP this year in admittedly a weak field.

but of coarse even though he is a bike rider he has racing experience and he was going to beat anyone without race experience so it was abit slack putting him up against that field IMO.
