Epinettes has electricity of sorts.. It's not as good as Houx for this.

Houx usually has a bank of electric points per row of pitches. But of course they get quickly taken up!

We've removed our dependence on electricity by taking small sets of solar panels, then charge a power bank and charge devices from those. Everything else we take doesn't require power.

It's nice electricity is provided for you guys. However it must be even better to bring your own source of power so you don't have to worry about a blackout. Although I'm curious about how small those solar panels are?

although no longer available - we bought them about 6-7 years ago. There are a few newer and better versions available now. Those ones are only 15W or so. It can easily charge a power bank if left charging all day. They're about 20x25cm in size. They fold out so have 3 panels.

The lighting we have is LED so runs off AA batteries

Indeed. Investing in a couple of high quality Igloo coolboxes and pre-making blocks of ice removes any need for electric fridges.

We do use several of those aerosol sized gas canisters boiling the kettle though, perhaps I need to dig out my Kelly Kettle so we can burn the cardboard from the cases of beer to boil water.

seconded the portable solar panels. handy for home use too - i’d go as far to say if you buy a power bank buy a set of these to go with it. mine sat on the patio charging my larger power bank quite happily yesterday, which is one less thing charging off the mains and racking up bills. they’ll never make their cost back in savings, but they’re really handy.

The power bank won't work a.fridge. however if I take the Mach E next year it can power a fridge without draining the batteries too much.

If you've never been to the Classic, you may be surprised at how many photo opportunities there are.
You can get very close to the cars in the paddocks and collecting areas and with some luck get to chat with drivers of yesteryear. I'd be amazed if Henri Pescarolo and Jackie Ickx aren't there. A few years ago I helped Emanuele Pirro push a stalled GT40 out of harm's way on its way back to its paddock. Chatted with Derek Bell and Richard Attwood there too, many years after I first asked DB for his autograph at the race in 1981 that he and JI won.
Taking photos from grandstands isn't my cup of tea (beg your pardon, it's your choice!) but you might find CTD's map helpful, if you're prepared to do some walking.

Very kind, thank you! I was at Le Mans 24 a couple of weeks ago so have a good idea where the promising areas are. My first lesson was to find a way to fit a larger step into my hand baggage! Since there will be about a million cars on track, I’ll have no problem filling up several memory cards, there will just be less shot variety than I ideally like.

Don't forget to get out to Indianapolis/Arnage and Mulsanne. Plenty of great photo opportunities there.

For those that use them Brittany Ferries have put up their sailings for next June, although they have some technical issues at the moment stopping bookings!
