Well, they did promise extreme measures and that is certainly extreme! Still, Andy Miller might not mind missing an extended stay down under.

Apparently it's true, by the way. That's from a reliable source.

Finally common sense prevails!! Hopefully now the drivers will have some input! Unfortunately I read that Richard Lyons is still favourite to drive...

Sounds like a good move, Anderson has made some very good cars. It will probably depend on how well he's able to work with the (heavily) restricted rules of A1GP.
It should remove the dodgey car excuse after a little while. I hope Richard makes the most of it and starts bagging some points! |

Yeah, Lyons worked with Anderson before in Japan, apparently. Pity about Michael Devanney though, he proved himself in the car last year, no question marks over him...............

It would also beg the question that if the car improves and Richard starts getting results, will they take the chance of slowing progress by putting Michael back in the car? I'm not saying that Michael would slow progress down but it could take him a little while to set the car up around himself again. |

I have a question.
If Lyons does win, will he accept having to stand on a podium with an irish tricolour and national anthem playing, or more to the point will we have another incident ala eddie irvine in 1995 if it is the case where his family were given death threats just because the irish flag was used on the podium. I think it is a shame devaney felt he had to jump ship. He is a good little driver who was let down by his team, and he loved driving for his country. |

I wasn't aware that Devaney had left. Why did he jump ship? And where did he jump too?!

Pity Devaney was ****ed over. How da hell are we suppose to support that ******** Lyons? I think I'll support team GBR until an Irishman gets back in the car (bring on John O' Hara...). Better to support the real thing rather than GBR mark II!!
Hope Devaney kicks arse in da US and gives the two fingers to the whole lot of 'em. |

I still don't think they made a bad move by taking Lyons. He is a proven winner and champion in big single seaters.
Having said that I'd love to see Paddy Hogan in the car, he was faster than Michael and John when he tested for them last year. Pity he didn't have the cash. Could it be worked the way France worked it last year? With John and Paddy sharing the drive round by round. It would introduce a competitive edge within the team that would hopefully push both drivers and the team forward. I'm sure between them they could fund the drive? |

Think they had trouble fitting his ego into the car!!! |

Your argument that Lyons has won in higher formulae is rubbish, he has won in Nippon because he had the money to get in there in the 1st place and he's been racing longer in order to work his way up there, that doesn't make him better. Devaney doesn't have the money, i'm sure if he was in the same position (financially) as Lyons we wouldn't be having this conversation. Quote:
Actually that reminds me of something: http://www.hohenthal.se/sebtv/2006_mov9.wmv (this is brilliant!) Quote:

I dont understand why they dont give Damien Faulkner a drive or a test, he is very quick both in saloons and single seaters.

I'd love to see O Hara in the car, for at least one race this year.
Having said that the team does seem to have made a significant move forward, how much of that is Lyons and how much is Anderson is hard to know - maybe a combination. My understanding of Paddy Hogan is that he would have no problem with the finances and so I'd believe the rumours he was dismissed due to his attitude. Love the video by the way Niki!! |
