Change of CEO of HSCC

News from the Historic Sports Car Club

Wednesday 13 June 2018

Revised role for Grahame White at HSCC

From the end of this year, Grahame White will retire as Chief Executive Officer and take a new consultancy role within the Historic Sports Car Club.

Grahame has been the Club’s CEO for over 20 years and will now switch to the new position to ensure that the HSCC continues to benefit from his unrivalled experience and expertise.

Club Chairman Frank Lyons said: “Over the last two decades, Grahame has gained huge respect in the wider field of motor sport and has done an outstanding job to build the Club into one of Europe’s leading organisers of historic racing.

“When he took over the role of CEO, the Club was going through difficult times. He has guided the HSCC forward, building it into a very successful organisation which now promotes major historic events throughout the UK for over a thousand members. I am delighted that the Club will continue to benefit from his close involvement into 2019 and beyond.”

Grahame White said: “It has been a privilege to work for the HSCC and all the members and I will continue to help in planning its future.”

Whilst no surprise given his age, he'll be a hard act to follow.

During the relatively short time I’ve been Historic racing, Grahame has been the HSCC. Difficult to envisage the club without his presence!

But, time marches on and nothing can remain the same forever. Good luck to whoever takes over, and to Grahame in the future.

the HSCC is more than Grahame.
there is also the staff
so there is some continuity

Absolutely right, Rudolph. The HSCC benefits (and will hopefully continue to benefit) from Grahame's extensive experience and contacts in the historic racing world. However, the "front of house" team in the office (Alan, Carrie and Donna) also do a fantastic job (with Emma and Lynn keeping the book keeping on track).

It's hard to believe that the competitive side of an event as big as the Silverstone Classic is run by such a small team. The Good Pub Guide, a few years ago, defined a good pub not just as somewhere that you feel glad to have visited - you also need to feel that the landlord and staff are glad you've visited as well.

Obviously badly worded. Insert the word “figurehead” after HSCC! The whole team do a fantastic job, and it’s always a pleasure to race at any meeting where the club is running the racing side.
