Uncle Cranker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
09 - 11 November 2012 " TBA" = Winton (Merged)

Not such a mystery anymore *..... 36°31′6″S 146°5′15″E

Businesses in the surrounding area were told recently that discussions have been had about the “ TBA second last round” swapping with an existing Australian round ( a poorly timed one )

Not set in stone, but greater than a 50/50 chance

* Special thanks to Algenon, from "Alphonse Motorsport Investigations" for allowing me to share this.

Knowing that the 10th & 11th of November are already locked in for the final round of the VMRC (featuring the Winton 300 enduro) it may have to be the weekend after....

T.C & his cronies can play second fiddle for a change

Winton in November, or Winton in August, you pick which one would be better ?

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
With winton being the round before Sandown i was always going to choose one or the other and Sandown was going to win due to its enduro mode and also because of winter

But I would give it though in November (could be hot though)

Interesting that they asked Winton, I know why, despite what Cochrane thinks, Winton are very happy to work with V8SCA even though they have had a bit of **** from Cochrane in the past.

Probably the most user friendly track around, I can't imagine too many others moving stuff around to fit V8SCA

That'd be right.

We had everything booked for Barbagallo last year and they changed the date.
Mr Whitaker actually gave us free tickets for Tassie instead!

This year I have booked everything for Winton...........

Thanks UC. If you're right, you've spoilt my day...

last time we ended up with a late change to winton, we ended up with really average support races.

hopefully that will be doubt with better this time

although admitingly there will be support calenders that this would mess with anyway

They run their own championships so it would **** them off a bit, but Mick Ronke is a very good negotiator, I have seen him in action.

not arguinng with you big trev

but just pointing out the the Aussie Race car series and Aust formula ford which are support series for Winton as it currently stands, will in theory have already finished their season at the Gold coast round.

Would they want to have their final round at Winton compared to Gold Coast?

But were F/Ford and ARC due to race at the original Winton date?

If so, then they'll need to race at the revised date to complete their scheduled number of rounds (or make other arrangements).

But I agree, they'd all prefer to have a finale at an event like GC.

Well the V8 superstars still have that date on their calendar for the mooted double-header in Sentul but I wouldn't book tickets on Garuda for that one yet either.

The 2012 Winton V8 Supercar event has been shifted from August to November, following alterations to the V8 Supercar Championship Series calendar.

The V8 Supercars will now race at Winton on November 16-18, which will be the penultimate event for the 2012 V8 Supercar Championship.

The support categories for the meeting will remain the same as the original August date, and will include the Dunlop V8 Supercar Development Series, Australian Formula Ford Championship, V8 Ute Racing Series, Aussie Racing Cars and Formula Atlantic Series.

The 2012 national champions for both Aussie Racing Cars and Formula Ford will now be crowned at Winton, as it will be the final round of the series for both those categories.

The V8 Supercar meeting will be held just one weekend after the Kumho Tyres Winton 300 endurance race. This high-profile event will be broadcast on national television via SBS Speedweek and the Fox Speed channel. The Winton 300’s sister race, the Wakefield 300 held in March, attracted a field of almost 40 cars which produced a highly entertaining contest, and a similar field of cars is expected at Winton.

The exposure for the Winton 300 will just add to the vast live national and international television coverage for the V8 Supercar meeting, which reaches over 853 million homes in 117 different countries.

Overall, the widespread publicity generated by these two race meetings will bring huge benefits to Benalla and the surrounding regions, including an increase in tourism and the resulting economic growth.

Gotta think this is good news for Winton - weather much more likely to be friendly and of course as the penultimate weekend's V8 racing for the year, the pressure is likely to be on for several teams to a higher extent.

Do wonder about what might or might not happen in August.
