Sorry - it hasn't come true. Mr Phelps claimed that CL was going to retire at the end of 2019, that a decision had already been made back in early May and that an interview with CL had confirmed it - all make-believe.

Nothing time consuming or amazing about playing shotgun journalism. There’s no skill in that. Phelps hasn’t gotten anything right out of this. The category does not benefit from his so called journalistic efforts.

Red Bull team mates to arm wrestle over Lowndes Co drive.

And why wouldn't you? I couldn't think of a better option. Paul Dumbrell is pretty busy these days.

this will be interesting,
Has Brighty put on a few kilos?
Do they need to have two setups?
Lee has the car tuned for his style, Matt was about the same height /weight ratio.

some gossip about Brighty and his REC moving to Charlie.
I thought he had two year deal with Matt Stone?

But it is a business.

will the Kellys of load a couple of RECS?(should be in silly 19)

So, 2 underperforming PHR cars instead of 1? What's the point?

You misunderstand - the PHR proprietor once knew more about running DJR than DJ did.

When you take it upon yourself to sign a star driver for more than the naming rights sponsor you also just signed is paying, that's hardly a responsible thing to do.

Yes it would certainly be a pity to change the set up of the car after the fantastic success Lee is having this year!

It was a team effort; and they're currently leading this years' championship.

After losing Adrian Burgess and James Courtney you have the glory days until Penske showed up in 2015:

2011: 9th
2012: 13th
2013: 8th
2014: 10th
2015: 13th
2016: 5th
2017: 1st

So from winning the drivers championship and finishing second in teams championship in 2010, to 9ith in 2011, with the departure of Charlie, Adrian and Courtney. Nice team effort....

That is actually irrelevant to the argument. Without Charlie and his appointees there is no 2010 championship. They were a basket case before, and a basker case after. I reiterate, Dick is VERY fortunate the team was still alive for DJRTP to resurrect, and it has still taken one of the best motorsport organisations in the world years to so.

No, it is very relevant, as these individuals are being promoted as being above the team in their capabilities.

Incorrect; and as mentioned in the 2019 SS thread, the books were balanced and the debt was paid off prior to the Penske acquisition.

Isn't the larger concern that CS spent money that DJR didn't have?

Success costs money and that's what a benefactor is for.

This exactly, many people up and down pit lane spend money without leaving a trail of debts a'la Tekno.

When Roland Dane bought Briggs out I bet he spent money the team didn't have either....

Perhaps the interesting question regarding Mr Bright's appointment may be whether Mr Holdsworth actually sees out the season after the enduros....
