ADAC GT + Nürb 24h + VLN = DMSB GT3 Meisterschaft

The Deutsche Motorsport Bund will begin in 2010 the (take a breath) Deutsche Meisterschaft für Fahrer von GT3-Fahrzeugen, that is the German Championship for GT3 Drivers. Not-so-GT3 will be eligible too.

It will comprise all seven ADAC GT Masters rounds plus the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft finale, the DMV Münsterlandpokal.

2010 DMSB GT3 Meisterschaft:

April 9-11 - Oschersleben
May 7-9 - Sachsenring
May 13-16 - ADAC 24 Hours of Nürburgring
May 28-30 - Hockenheimring
July 16-18 - Assen
August 13-15 - Lausitz
August 27-29 - Nürburgring
October 1-3 - Oschersleben
October 29-30 - VLN DMV Münsterlandpokal

The 24h will give 30 points to the winner and the Münsterlandpokal 20 points, versus 10 points for the ADAC GT race winners.

Weird, all the other press releases said that the 24hours would be worth 50 points (and showed the complete points distribution down to 8th or 10th place).
See here

And the GT-Masters actually has 14 rounds as they race twice per weekend, and I think they'll score all of those.

Not really sure what to make of this, yet, looks a bit like a German Intercontinental Cup

What I meant is that all seven weekends will be part of the new championship. Have in mind that English isn't my first tongue and I get confused with these particular terms (rounds, dates, weekends, races, events, etc.). In Spanish, race weekends are more accurately known as dates ("fechas", like in football), each of which may have several races. So the BTCC will have 10 "fechas" in 2010 and 30 races.

Hmm, my posting might have come across a bit harsher than originally intended, I definitely didn't mean to critisize you, just to clarify.

There has been a amendment in the rule set between the preliminary press release for some print media last week and the final announcement on Tuesday, thus the difference. The 24h Nürburgring GT3-class winner will be awarded 30 points.

Hello all,

I am quite new to Endurance racing and to get some real taste I would like to visit the 24h on the Nurburgring.

Now we all know that the ring is quite large, so which parts of the circuit are the best place to be? Is there already some entrylist with participants? I would like to see which cars will turn up at the race. Thanks in advance to everybody who can help me

Just from the top of my head, these should be the top contenders for the overall win:

3 Porsche GT3 R Manthey (well, one of them will probably suck)
1 Porsche GT3 R Mamerow
2 BMW M3 GTR BMW factory effort
2 BMW Z4 GT3 Schubert
2 Audi R8 LMS Phoenix
2 (?) Audi R8 LMS Abt

By the VLN site, do you mean this one?

http://adac.24h-rennen.de/index.php?id=168&L=1

You should find some interesting info there and maybe some links to additional sites(??).

By the looks this we might see some Joest prepared R8's.
If anybody has the cash to hire them.

Yes and No. It's said to debut in VLN, and the last VLN race is a part of the DMSB GT3-championship - but then as of now, no one seems to care about the DMSB-championship...

Edit: The SLS won't be homologated until next year from what I remember - so even if it races in VLN it won't be in the GT3-class...

Is DMSB some sort of championship seperate to the ADAC GT Masters?

I was under the impression the ADAC series is shaping up well.

Jag, the Deutsche Motorsport Bund organises it and, as I wrote in the first post, "it will comprise all seven ADAC GT Masters rounds plus the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft finale, the DMV Münsterlandpokal." It seems like an effort from all sanctioning bodies in the country to strengthen sports car racing.

The DMSB is he only sanctioning body in Germany. The ADAC is the organizer (of the GT Masters) in conjunction with SRO Germany.

Dubai Debut? I guess that would seem likely since that is the first major endurance race of the year and GT3 cars are featured there, especially in such a rich country.

That is one mean looking race car, in fact all the GT3 cars are very aggressive looking.

They might do Dubai, but not as their debut. Rumor has it they will do the last three VLN (Nordschleife-endurance) races.

However, the car won't have a full GT3-homologation until the FIA's pre-season tests in 2011, which are usually in February or March. Without a valid FIA homologation they can't compete in the GT3-class of VLN, but then there are many other classes in VLN, and I am sure the SLS would fit in at least one of them, from the top of my head, I'd say that they could either run it in SP8 (24 hour specials up to 6.2l displacement) or E1XP (oh, you are a factory team, if you give us some money you can run your car in this class and we don't care if it fits the rules).

So, in short, I fully expect to see this car this fall at the 'Ring, but not in the bespoke GT3-class.
