Bob McLoughlin has lent his multiple Qld championship winning Commodore to Ricciardello for the rest of the round. Tony is uninjured.

Bit of a worry to see a burnt Alfa, my thoughts went back to Surfers a hundred years ago, glad the pilot didn't suffer like poor Tony E.

Would be a good reason to start on it, but Basil is never one rush into spending money haha hopefully they have Jamie Gard still heading up their engineering as he is what turned the Alfa around into the monster it is.. Wonder how much damage has been done to the Alfa tho with all that alloy panelling in the rear which doesn't like heat that much.. Re Tony pace, he is a quick driver alright, I don't think his chariot which he drove in the v8s for kellys was that great a machine so made him look pretty average (comes back to Basils wallet I think ) |

http://www.sportssedans.com.au/forum...min=300&num=15 Our issue at the moment is that we have put in a lot of time into rebuilding and developing the Alfa. ( like many others in the pre season, plus to build one and to prep another is a bit difficult seeing that it is all done in-house) Plus also working full time and having a young family. The other issues are - that we have been looking at how we can improve the Alfas design and look at putting those ideas into the new car. -look at being able to get ahold of the new car body panels ( we all haven't got the patience and expertise to copy a model car like Bailys crew which is amazing). - the design work that happens on paper or on computer is probably the most important part to really set the heart of the beast in the right direction. It's easy to change or press delete then to cut apart and re- weld or scrap like others have done. In the past. -We are always finding new speed out of the Alfa - looking at a lot of designs, whether want to carry them from the Alfa - all parts will be new so no carry on's from the Alfa. |

From the article in AA, it seems it should be back at the next round. Good to hear the Alfa isn't in too bad a shape.

they spoke of wiring loom damage which they didn't have a spare of with them that meant they couldn't just bolt on the spare body in AA, so seems to be more superficial damage than structural. I have loved that Alfa since the days Brian Smith use to punt it around in anger so glad the ole girl is still alright..

Saw that car in the flesh many years ago at a Sports Sedan function at Sandown in 2000. A young kid who was there was looking throught the window of the thing in the function room when told by one of the crew to "**** off". Me thinks it's a bit of karma

I can't see how an unacceptable choice of words from a crew member ( who is probably no longer there ) some 12 years ago equates to '' karma '' ?

He drove the wheels off Bob Mcloughlin's Commodore when he used it as a back up car. Was 2nd fastest in Q2 qualifying at Mallala.

Funny, Me and one of my lads went to the Mallala round and were just having a look at Kerry Baily's Aston. When he just pointed at my son and said 'Do you want to sit in it ??' So they got out a petrol tin and helped him slide in Dukes of Hazzard style. Then spoke with Kerry for 4-5 minutes about the build while my kid poked around inside the beast, they let me take heaps of Photos from within the garage. Fantastic experience and greatly appreciated.
