Morgan to return to GT racing!

Morgan are to reveal a Morgan Aero 8 at the autosport international motorshow in january. It will be a gt class car [GT3] It will be powered by a BMW engine and it will be eligible for both the FIA GT and ALMS in 2002. There are no plans to go to Le Mans in 2002 with a works team but privateers could go.

After all the dialogue about whether BMW should be allowed to enter the GT class at Le Mans (I think not FWIW), this is one I would like to see!!

Fantastic news. I have to get to Le Mans 2002 at all costs. That is if there is a privateer going.

If a new Morgan goes to 2002 Le Mans, I want it to win. I know it won't, but there you go.

hehe i remember it well. i got very excited spectating at Silverstone because the car was actually making up places in the early laps, before it span off. Was that 97 or 96? hmmm. Curious anorak detail was the gauge gaffa-taped to the windscreen that one of the three wipers was having trouble with! All credit to the team however because they were developing their new road car with the racer, which is how it should be done. That colour though, what were they thinkinh of??!! Come to think of it ICI paint was just about th only sponsor, wasn't it?

That would be Charles Morgan, who was banned from driving last year after he got caught over the limit, I think...

Does that exclude him from gaining a racing license? Especially if his driving license is banned.
