We see it time and again, though.
Schumi gets a run for his money in practice - usually from the likes of little Anthony Davidson who isn't running for the rest of the weekend anyway - and still the Ferrari blasts everyone else into the weeds come Sunday after they've finished their roasts. |

Some team summary:
McLaren seem happy with there tyre choice. Although Kimi had a better time of it as DC's program was set back a little by a couple of spins in T2. Jaguar had problems with brake ducts. They needed to change a them on both cars, which delayed practice for them a little. Klein had a failure and Webber's was a precautionary change. Ferrari are happy with the tyres despite the temperatures being very high. I think it is looking good for them (really? ) Hot weather, slow corners and they were still quickest in the second session. Well Michael was... And it could well rain tonight and clean the track, not ideal for Michelins... Apparently Toyota's loss of speed in the second session is that they were using old tyres. Will they have good race pace at the end of stints? BAR The biggy is the engine blow for Button. Ten places: Discussed here. And Ant was up there again. Williams' had a usual Friday IMO. Quickish, but nothing amazing. However when they have the pace it is often like this on a Friday (and also when it isn't). Pizzonia got some running, I hope it sets him up well. Renault are complaining of a lack of grip. Understeer and oversteer according to Pat Symonds. Does this circuit suit them? It may need traction, but you still need grunt out of corners. Bridgestone have a new tyre for Jordan which they like, but it didn't stop both drivers locking up a lot. Minardi were there too as Paul Stoddart said in the teams press release: "Today saw all three Minardi drivers compete their full technical programme in preparation for Sunday’s German GP. The times were very respectable and it’s always pleasing to see us in among the Jordans." Sauber Fisi seemed quick at one point, but didn't finish too well. Are the race by race revisions really improving that Sauber? Fisi's comments don't sound too good. Oversteer and Understeer in the same corner. Last edited by Adam43; 23 Jul 2004 at 20:48. |

For small teams, staying in business is a notable and praiseworthy achievement.
