[STCC] Race 8 - Knutstorp (SWE), 31 August 2008

The Swedish Touring Car Championship returns to the Knutstorp track in the south of Sweden. The season started here and returns with only three races left of the 2008 season.

Previously at Gelleråsen
Richard Göransson the season starter earlier this year at Knutstorp. The Flash Engineering-man took pole and held the lead from start to finish. Championship rival Fredrik Ekblom finished second, some four seconds behind with his team mate Robin Rudholm third.

The season so far
Ekblom leads the championship with 52 points, but the WestCoast Racing-driver has got two drivers chasing close behind. His main rival Göransson is only four points behind while Thed Björk is a further three points behind.

Who will lead the championship when the dust settles on Sunday?

Hard words from Flash.

*Waits for Stedevel's opinion on these dirty tactics*

Complot-theory: Knutstorp trackowner pays both WC and Flash to bring out these pressannouncements to get in more spectators?

stedevil has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Well, Flash is know to talk a lot and he knows what to say to make sure it hits the news. I very much doubt he would actually deliberately do that in a race. The same way Dahlgren has more than once threatened to take others out next race after ending up in the gravel himself. It's more of in front of newsreporters/camera drama creating IMO.

As for the incident at the (3rd) restart at Falkenberg, 1 TV picture was in the pits and the other were showing a replay, so can't say how it looked in the corners right before the straight. But down the straight Rosenblad was no further behind the tools BMWs than eg Flash himself was behind Dahlgren. So is Flash suggesting he himself should also get a penalty?

In any case to me it looked like a pretty normal restart and at least not a blatantly obvious intentional holding up of the field. But maybe Flash Engineering has some good on board pictures from 1-2 corners before the restart that substantiates Flash POV? JMeissner do you have time to go through the footage and post a link to the situation?

Yeah, I would if we had some footage of it. Sadly our cameras failed in both cars due to a software error.

STCC.se writes that possibly Calle Rosenblad and Jens Edman will team up for a 2 car team next season, sounds very promesing. I reccon them together in up to date BMWs for a full season with a reasonable budget can very well be title contenders.
It looks like STCC can get a real boost for next year with lots of new teams looking at entering.

From the sound of the article, I would be very surprised to see that team on the grid next year. In any case it looks like it's time for a new rumors & speculation topic...

Win for Göransson:

http://www.touringcartimes.com/news.php?id=2646

Quite an entertaining race, fight for the lead, fourth place etc.

Not a good race for Ekblom who was involved in the start incidents, got techical flag, etc.

Yeah, Ekblom, usually coated in teflon, for once got caught up in other peoples accidents. To bad since it affects the very tight race for the championship we had so far.

Also, can't but feel sad for Sturesson in the Peugeot, he just dont seem to get a lucky break so far the entire season.

And OMG? The Volvo can finally finish a race on only 2 sets of tires? They might yet win a few this year.
