Agreed, $10k was ridiculous.
And then he was told to start from pitlane, not even rear of grid. And disqualified from the race too. Anything else you can take from him? I don't recall Giz being penalised like this when he forced Reynolds into the weeds, an incident that ended someone's title chance. |

In incar footage in that is telling, Giz didnt steer, he kept his foot in it but the crash was Davey coming across the track to cover.
Anyway this is actually irrelevant to the discussion, which is unfortunately the temper and poor decision making of someone thought to be championship material. Now looks a bit more like Rodney Forbes or Paul Romano |

Not sure why we're comparing the rules now, to the rules of 3-4 years ago.
It's a new year... |

I'd have faux slipped and sent him to the ground, hopefully whacking his helmet and scratching it so it needed replacing. |

Well this is some motorsport. And everyone seems to have a different opinion on the incidents here

It is not helped by the opaque nature of the judicial and penalty process and the clearly inconsistent application of the rules over time. As I have said many times Race Control gets involved far too often in incidents that drivers should be able to sort out among themselves on and off the track. |

The way the penalties fluctuate for different offences always seems to be the way

How often has there been such a blatant case of on-track payback, confirmed by interview?

That was different - not really a payback but Mr Ingall copped a belting from the stewards from memory. Mr Ingall copped something of a belting from the stewards for the Imrie hit and I think from memory that Mr Romano was given a lengthy holiday as well as a fine wasn't he? Seems like the examples quoted have copped a fairly strong response from the stewards / system so may despite claims to the contrary, Mr Stanaway seems to have been dealt with constantly with similar past behaviour. |

Well at least he was honest enough to admit it, but then the stewards have to make a decision. Certainly it is different from past cases. But it is consistent with previous penalties

I think it was strange how he admitted, left the stewards with no choice. Very strange compared with past cases, but it is the right decision

Thanks for the examples, did not come up with all of those. Lots (relatively speaking) of $10k fines in the past...
