Twin Keels. Advantages and Disadvantages
I understand how a twin keel is set up on a car but was just wondering exactly what it is aiming to achieve. Am i right in thinking that it is to improve the airflow underneath the car or am i on the wrong track with that?

You're right on the advantage, the disadvantage probably is less structural strength and thus more prone to failure.

But it seems like Mclaren, and now Williams had successfully overcome the disadvantage while exploiting it's advantage.

disadvantage: suspension geometry, prevents optimum roll centers and will probably have some effect on the camber vurves because of the pretty standard location of the upper mounts. This is overshadowed though by the gain in aerodynamics which is the real driving force behind F1 cars nowadays even at the expense of proper suspension design sometimes

Irregardless of it's way of working, i personally like twin keel more...it makes the car looks great from a low front angle.
