Au contraire - having just watched him hurl the gorgeous 312T around at speed , displaying some lovely heel and toeing , he should do more

That Eifelland is now my fave F1 car I think, simply amazing, and being pedalled decently aswell.

An interesting idea this, lots of average drivers, but some damn good ones too, but its a bit of a rich mans paradise isn't it lol!

Seems the brakes could not help the driver. What a hairy race!

Lotus decides to go full stock car racing and just boot Alesi out of the way since he couldn't pass him cleanly

Should definitely be DQ'd for that I'm afraid

*edit* seems that's exactly what happened. 15 second penalty for Werner. Seems fair

This is speculation from the commentary team

Frankly, he had that kind of acceleration advantage on Alesi outside every corner, he just messed up the closing speed that time
He also biffed him at the chicane about 5 laps before too

Poor Sportsmanship from Werner, now he won't even stand on the podium.
He'll be lucky to be invited back

Either way with what you think about the penalty, you simply can't send a message that you can cause contact with a rival, wreck him and get a win from it.
This isn't Nascar

Curious to see Sky Sports F1 stream the event live on their Youtube channel but not offer any coverage on TV.

Think someone might be taking this a little too seriously above loL!

Jean missed a gear, Marco was right there and had not looked remotely like clashing for 15 or so laps before, just a racing incident, the fact that jean is French and was probably guest of honour type stuff probably played a part!!

it is F1 after all

Such a shame for Alesi, he didn't put a wheel wrong but following that closely Verna was almost certain to make contact if the leader hesitated or faltered for whatever reason. I must confess watching that rear view of the incident it did appear to be more than just a tap, Alesi's Ferrari went very sharply to the right wiping him out.

Werner was faster and I dont see how its possible to overtake at Monaco without being close, Alesi was defending hard as should. They both were fighting and taking risks. As hoffman66 said above its a racing incident imo. The Sports moteur avant race saw some wreckage too.

It was great to see Michael Lyons' very sporting gesture to Marco Werner after the race. And he probably had a better view than anybody as to just what happened too.
