pitstopboss should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
F1 Game, but online

Hi,

I'm making an online formula one simulation game, and just so that I get things right, perhaps you could suggest things that you would like to see in such a game?

I doubt I can put in 3d replays though!

Maybe you want to be able to play instantly against other people?
Maybe you want to see the laptimes like they have at formula1.com?
Maybe you want to have a say in the tactics such as downforce/tyres?

I personally watch most races on TV but look at the Live Timing feature of Formula1.com to get a more interesting take on the race. I'm hoping to include a system like that in the final release.

You can preregister, to get more info as it happens at http://www.pitstopboss.com

but i'd like to hear your views.

thanks.

I'm still working on refining the concept, but I think the following would be essential:

Ability to race instantly against other players online.

Ability to tune aspects of the car (downforce, brakes, tires)

Ability to alter tactics of the driver (eg. maximum revs, or save the engine).

Ability to decide pitstop strategy.

The game (as i see it) would also present you with a live-feed where you can race data and commentry.

You will be able to compete in mini leagues too. and work on car improvemnts.

I'm keeping it relatively simple, so that testing can begin within a month or so

I'm happy for people to let you have their views, as this should be right up the street of some of those who post here - but - as a mod of the forum I can't allow a thread which serves as an advertisement for your site and your simulation. So I'll keep a watching brief for the moment......

Sorry if it sounds like an advertisement, I don't inted it to be really.
it's a game i'm making for the armchair F1 fan - and I just want to hear feedback of what people would like in such a game, so I can do the best job possible.

I don't mind putting up a link to your site too (i'll be putting up that page shortly)

I think it sounds like a great concept and im really impressed at the lengths you are going to to ensure a good game. The one thing that i find irritating about an f1 game i buy is that if the track isnt similar to the real one, in terms of length of straights, Tightness of corners e.t.c. That is one of the things that i would pick up on, but i have no doubt that you will have already covered this issue and i await further progress with anticipation. Well done and good luck with ure quest

Hi Dan,

I agree with you - having bought practically all the F1 games there are - only to find a new track not included.

What i am going to add is a track designer so that if I don't get it right, you will at least have the ability to submit tracks to be included in the game or modify existing ones.

Well, it is a simulation game (so no live 3d action) but I can include damage to cars in the game. You would have to manage your resources to either fix damage or perhaps spend time testing the cars

You mean a 'management' game then?

Yes, you'll manage things such as tyre choice, pitstops, car setup and drivers.
and also manage testing and aspects of car production.

I'm going to put in a 'live race feed' so you can get info on the race as it happens.

Also, you'll be able to make decisions 'live' about strategy.

A limited beta-test will be coming up, so put your name down if your interested on the website.

thanks.

That's a great idea, i've pre-registered. Shame no 3d action, but hey - can't have it all. Go for it mate.

Thanks for pre-registering!

Regarding the 3d action.... I'm going to allow for programmers to download the feed from any race, so they can (if they want) program a plugin so people can view 3D action from the data the game kicks out.

At the very least, I'll probably write a simple 2d plugin that allows for this.

Sounds interesting! It's about time we had another manager game. I'm still playing GPM2 to this day!
