sounds very sensible. i know round us in the south end of france the town hall distributed a couple of fabric masks to everyone, and a few disposable paper ones for use in medical establishments but wasn't sure how they were going to handle the personal care stuff.

The first - and best - mask I had our village mayor got made by a local company. Subsequently, three more appeared via the Mairie but I don't know where they came from. Fortunately, living in a small village I rarely need to bother with such things!

ours had a boatload of volunteers making and distributing them! it’s a reasonable sized town/city though. we could have done with a similar programme in the uk, but i’m happy to chuck a tenner the way of a lady with a sewing machine hustling trying to pay the bills.

Our 'pukka' ones were made by a plastics company in Frevent. The Haut de France's cheap & cheerful ones presumably came from more than one source. Two were the standard blue & white whilst the third is black - probably a bit contentious at the moment!

It's more a matter of the reasons you have to give in order to get a grant. For the majority of volunteers run clubs there was noting to apply for.

While M UK has said we can start in July that is subject to government permission and at the moment I don't see that anywhere for any non professional sport.
Tracks days have been going for a few weeks and non M UK karting and have not been pulled up as yet, although there was a motor cycle endure stopped a few weeks back.
We need a clear go ahead from government before I get involved.

Someone asked about mask or visor. Since spending out on PPE the rules have been clarified so that we need to wear face coverings in "public" areas but back at the pit we can leave it off.

I actually wear a snood which I pull up over my face as I step out of my "area" and I've had a batch of cheap and cheerful masks made by my T shirt supplier in Pakistan. I don't think either are the slightest use, but organisers are pleased to see them in use. I do wear gloves but only because I wear them when lifting hot and oily karts anyway. I have an alcohol gel dispenser on a central table.

Instead of using my big 9mx6m awning I have a number of socially distanced pop ups without sides, two karts in a 6x3 and one in a 4.5x3. In truth it's not been much of a problem, the only time we get close to anyone is talking to drivers on the grid and they've got helmets on. Are we 2m away the rest of the time? "Of course sir."

We've been able to socialise, it just takes time to get used to not seeing people's faces when you chat. It's no problem and we've really enjoyed the re-start.

Why do I get the impression this isn’t the first time you’ve rolled out that line?

It's exactly my sort of pedantry, so not that one but many like it!

In OT news, I've just signed on for my first event of the year by sending scans of my paperwork back to the MGCC. For a meeting two weeks away. That's pandemic planning for you!

I note that MSV have announced that Festival Italia is going ahead at Brands in August.....can't see how that works as a "behind doors" event - so does Mr Palmer know something we don't? (Undoubtedly he does, even if its only how to make money , but I mean about government plans for our sport.......)

I am sure he does! Both MSV and now Thruxton are saying that discussions with MSUK about spectator admission are still ongoing. Guess we just have to wait for further MSUK bulletins but I remain ever hopeful of being at the Superprix

The Competitor Finals have just arrived from the HSCC for the Superprix with an interesting paragraph about entry tickets.

The electronic link for tickets is to be sent on the 1st July - 4 tickets for single driver entries, 6 for a two driver race. But highlighted in red is the following:
"Whilst we are sending you the maximum ticket allocation, we strongly encourage you to only bring with you the number of people you actually need to run your car"

Additionally only tow vehicles/trucks are allowed in the paddocks, the plan for which is being left as late as possible "as circumstances are continually changing"

It seems that discussions really are still ongoing.....

I am aware of a member of the public who has purchased tickets on-line this morning for both the up coming HSCC and Masters race meetings at Brands Hatch.

If there is a spike in a few weeks time in the South, following the estimated 500,000 people who crowded into Bournemouth on Thursday, then I can see no spectators being allowed into any race meeting for the foreseeable future.

I have booked for both. If restrictions are lifted tickets are bound to be strictly limited and may not meet the demand. They are refundable anyway.
