First thing to do IMO is to sort out the engine and gearbox. Those bits tend to have the longest lead times.

Yes but will you be casting and machining the components? Which was my point.

BTW. As far as brakes are concerned I'd go for AP calipers, don't go Willwood because they tend to expand under race conditions. (I speak from experience).

trouble is Iain, you've got to do everyone else first so you can affor dto play with your own . . . . spent a week on the Anglebox, now I'm knee deep in engines.

I have pieced together parts for the anglia engine and gearbox however, even found some ally castings floating round in the back of the lock up.

Zef,

That was another point I was going to make. You need to earn a living too.

My winter project? I'm looking at buying a boat.

Iain, going back to the important matter of your dash search have you tried Escort-Tec down Gatwick way?

Also, Prepfab had my crash pad molded by a tame glassfibre bod, but remember at time they suggested could do a complete dash that would replace pod as well. Worth a thought.

6" of snow could possibly make my workshop warmer- good insulation! Still working on kitchen table at moment but am going to have to get back out there soon...

Meanwhile, a pic of the '6hr' 924. Engine rebuilt and ready to go in, gearbox rebuilt and in, fuel supply redone, all hubs and brakes rebuilt or renewed. When wiring finished will all start to come together!

Kitchen table is made from recycled pine and would likely support whole car. House smells of spray paint at moment.

Hate 924 engine as due to slant installation won't stand up on own. Give me a TR or B series any day.......

So you don't need any more suggestions for dashboard, Iain.

I was tempted by a Delta, or Albatross last winter . . . this week I've mostly got TVR Vixen withdrawl symptoms, really fancy another one just for the road

Zef- 'boat anchors' have their uses. If weather stays like this will be loading one in back of van to help traction!

The next project is to turn the rather tired looking Mk2 RS2 in pic1 into competition for the Delta Mk1

So far it has reached this stage. The shell took a lot of work to get sorted but is now complete with bolt in cage, seam welding and all that stuff. It will be Group 1 spec with HTP but closer to period regs than nowadays. Original interior apart from FIA seats in front and no rear, race tank instead of normal one. It will though keep M16 calipers & Gp1 ventilated discs and drum rears. Hopefully will be fun & would go well on Tour Britannia Just need the man building engine to come up trumps....

Winterproject in Denmark:
1. Getting my Caldwell D9 assembled, after it has been in 1000 bits. I am still waiting for the reactionsarm and wishbones from chromingguy. Engine and gearbox has been rebuild.
2. Getting the wings on my Palliser F3 car for the coming season.

I have to finish off the IROC engine and install then remove engine and box on yellow Camaro, repair or replace sump and check out clutch and do something with the gearbox, probably reshell the engine while out.

Moosehead should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
After a wasted season due to engine maladies main priority is with getting that properly sorted so that is currently with my guy and am awaiting news. My job is to dig out my old standard engine from the depths of the garage, get the block sleeved if it can be done then build that up myself as a spare (this will also be my errrr legal engine for pre 66 events - should be fun with standard spec & parts - 270hp if I'm lucky )

Have been offered a cheap respray if I do the prep but must be completed by Xmas!!! That sounded ok till I realised how close that is and how little spare time I have to do the prep.

Oh, and I really need to get a larger trailer which will probably need some extra fabrication adding to it as I can't afford an enclosed one which I'd like.

Not much really..............Simples

Isit worth getting the block sleeved Moose, I did that once and it never held up as did a competitor I was talking to earlier in the year and that was done by a top UK engine builder. I was also talking to someone else who is building an Apps K Ford V8 and recons the block has to be welded up at some incredible cost on the Ford, whats that all about?
