Canberra
Fairbairn Park...20 mins away, but really the closest proper circuit is Wakefield Park (1 hour away), then Sydney at 2.5 -3 hours for Eastern Creek and Oran Park...Bathurst is the other way and about 3.5 hours pleasant drive in the country.

about 40 minutes away from ty croes or anglesey circuit as its more commonly known, an hour from oulton park, about 1 hour 30 minutes to donington depending on traffic and erm velocity
and about 3 hours to my favorite track, silverstone, bloody wish i lived a bit closer atleast to my favorite race venue in quite possibly the whole world, oh and about 12 hours on the plane from road atlanta and a few hours by car, now THAT is a godly track |

Berlin Raceway. 7/16's mile short oval.
Gratten Racway. 2 mile road circuit. Ravena Kart Park. 1000 foot kart circuit. 800 foot kart oval. Many more short tracks and club level road course. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a 4 hour drive. My apartment is on a street that held the Grand Rapids Grand Prix for Trans Am in 1998 and 1999. |

Well, I class Donnington as my home track, since I'm from chesterfield and leicester, but currently, in Leicester, Mallory park is closest I think. That said, Leicester is in a great triangle of Donington, Rockingham and Silverstone, so I don't have much to complain about!

They do have a few car and bike races take place occasionally but there are no facilities around the circuit (only in the pit area). I have seen top works car and bike teams testing at different times throughout the year as the weather is "normally" dry and warm. (very hot in summer !) Its a favourite trackday venue, especially for bikes because of the run off. Its located on the road near Tabernas and the now commercialised "western town" where the Spaghetti Westerns were made in the 70s. I had a look last week but as the main gate was locked for a private test session I couldnt be bothered to walk a mile in the heat round the other side ! |

The 4k track was built in 1999 as far as I can remember. I used to use the road its on from the airport to our place, but since the E15 was built I don't need to drive past it now. The local boy racers use the road past the track to see how fast they can go as its dead straight for about 3k, but only single carriageway !!
Loads of footage on youtube . Last edited by GORDON STREETER; 8 Jun 2008 at 20:58. |
