FRenault Knockhill - Renault have a let out....

From noises off in the FRenault paddock I know many people were disappointed that the organisers declared a points scoring result at Knockhill despite there being only 5 racing laps (and 8 more behind the safety car). While MSA regulations, and at first glance FRenault regulations appear to say that a Class A race has to run 75% of full race distance to declare a result, para 3.5.2 of the FRenault regs (copied below) says the final decision is with the Clerk of the Course....

Should any race be reduced in length at the discretion of the Championship Clerk of the Course and/or Stewards of the Meeting, it will still count as a full points-scoring round.

That's the "loophole", if you want to call it that, which I was told was why they classed it as a championship round. Is there any way that a race can be stopped not at the discretion of the Clerk of the Course and/or stewards? Who else can stop it early?

Always the decision of the Clerk as far as I'm aware!
