WTCC Driver of the Day - Monza
Gonna try and restrict the list to a reasonable six...that way if I really am missing someone we can expand it.
Who do you think? Hard call I think. |

Voted Y Muller, but I also think Rydell did a great job in race 2, just a shame he was taken out by a stupid move from Huff...

Balzan. Yvan Muller had a great day as well, but he had a brand new factory Seat, not some second-hand Alfa.

Despite I don't like the guy I can't vote else than Balzan. Truely impressive driving out there, even though he screwed his tires.

Well I'm thinking of Balzan, Farfus, Muller and Sharp.
Balzan coz he's just a privateer and did a great job. Farfus coz of his nice fight with Zanardi and because he won it. Muller because he was very consistant, but he didn't do much special. And Sharp coz of a very good debute, didn't expect that at all! Going for Balzan! |

It would be unfair to pick only one, both Y. Muller and Balzan deserve it.

Balzan, just on the basis of race 2!
Ryan had a pretty good debut though. |

I would opt for Yvan Muller.
He showcased all the car control & racecraft that we have come to expect from his years in the BTCC. I would say that he is a decent outside bet for the championship. |

Having only seen the results and not the actual races, I put Muller (although Balzan looks like he did ace from what everyone has been saying)!
To be leading the championship after your first rounds and to beat his teammates who have raced the car already is something pretty special! I think the main reason he stands out is because no-one expected him to be top SEAT, but well done Yvan! |

Balzan's drive was just fantastic. His pace coming out of the parabolica a key factor.Always a pleasure to see the underdog fight his way to the front. His fronts were well off come the last couple of laps braking into the first corner! Huff was in line for a top result until getting the wrong side of that Seat into the gravel!
No BMW's around in Race 2! Go on the privateers... |

Because of his start number I expect he will do only Monza and Magny-Cours.

I voted for Yvan Muller, I think he was the best all-round the two legs.
But I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Priaulx. He won very nicely the first race and then he was involved in one of those "triplets" so prone to end crashing 2 or 3 cars. Balzan was the surprise of the day. He did a very good work, but some doubts prevented me to vote him. Alfa's engine is especially strong for Monza (year after year), I don't know how good or bad is his engine in comparison with rest of Alfas. Also two top BMWs got crashed, possibly they had ended ahead of Balzan, belowing him to a less impressive 6th possition. Anyway, although he was not my first choice, Balzan is *one* of my first choices. |
