Actually he may not have. I saw him testing a fair bit this year but I cannot recall any of the sessions being wet. Are you at Snet? If not where are you getting lap times from; I've checked TSL and nothing up yet?

Timing here.

Only 12 cars on the grid, maybe that's why Renault aren't even bothering to mention it's taking place this year... the way MSV run their championship websites puts Renault UK to shame.

That's what I thought. I am planning to make the trip down to Rockingham with a mate on Saturday, but now i'm wondering whether its worth it or not! There's only a few cars in the Ginetta Juniors too.

For what its worth, I assume Harry Tincknell will win all 4 races of this winter series and then go on to become the main series champion next season.

Tom Blomqvist has won race 1 with Fortec at Rockingham (Stockinger 2nd, Tincknell 3rd - sorry runshaw!).

I see Renault have managed to raise a huge 7 car entry for the Clio Winter Cup...

Blomquist looks pretty rapid, shame he didn't compete at Snetterton! Glad I didn't make the trip down to Rockingham, so few cars. They had 25 Formula Renault's out in the winter series last year.

Tom B is 15, 16 later this month, and was unable to race at Snetterton as he needed 'special dispensation' due to his age. The documents arrived too late for Snetterton. He was racing in Swedish F Renault this year, with one win and a few podiums.

He looks to be a very talented driver, his first laps in both races was brilliant, especially race 2. Tom and Fortec are planning to work together next season, which should be a very strong combination.

Not bad for his debut in the UK! Saw him in a picture with Stig Blomqvist, I guess thats his dad. Should be one to watch next year. As should Tincknell who won the title to add to his graduate cup honours this season.

is there any real differance in the cars from 2000 to 2009 eg is the gearbox any good in the 2000 spec car and are they hard on gears what is the max torque the gearbox can take and are tires expensive

You missed a cracker-2 stunning drives by Blomquist, 2 very good Clio races (even with only 7 cars) and 2 of the best races I've seen all year in the Ginetta Juniors (a massive 8 car grid!). Blomquist does look pretty special though, sure we'll be seeing a lot more of him over the coming years.

Fortec (Tom Blomquist, Luke Wright, Alex Lynn), Manor, Hitech, Mark Burdett Motorsport and Pippa Coleman all tested at Oulton Today.

Tom Blomquist was visably in another league to any other driver out there, Luke Wright and Alex Lynn both had impacts into the barriers at Cascades in the morning.
Pippa Coleman looked impressive on her debut test.
Manor ran Idafar and Robert Foster Jones, Foster Jones looking a lot quicker.
Mark Burdett ran Mathius Laine and Fabio (ex Formula Ford)
The Sole Hitch car was also spectaculary fast.

The speed of Blomquist compared to any other driver was unreal, about 4 secs a lap quicker than the rest.

I wish I was the parts salesman for FR2000 today as they went through so many noses/front wings. At one point today Fortec had to fix a wing broken by Laine just to get out as they ran out of spares!!

Matias Laine? That's weird as he has signed with Motopark Academy for 2010 F3 Euroseries... Why is he testing FR2.0 again?

Or was it another Laine: Jesse?

Yes, I saw that too, they sort of repaired the nose with Black tank tape and it was like 2 inches short of a normal nose and the wrong shape, but it actually ended up on Alex Lynn's car, Laine drove for Mark Burdett not Fortec, and also don't know if you noticed or not, at the back of the Fortec garage were 4 nosecones/front wings all destroyed by Lynn/Wright, they had indeed totally run out of spares! It was a destructive test! I think many teams will be glad the brand new 2010 cars were delayed in build, it could have been much worse!

It was Jesse Laine for Mark Burdett. Mitchell Hale was also running for Manor.

Off topic, but there seem to be something with Mark Burdett and Finns.

I have understood that Burdett's team is quite small and doesn't count as a top contender in FR UK, but every time they have a Finnish driver (Niemelä in 2006 and Jesse Krohn 2008..9) they do rather well... And Krohn did even better result with Burdett than CRS.

They do seem to run a lot of international drivers, not just Finns. Last year they had two Swedes with Fredrik Blomstedt and Daniel Ivarsson and Dutchman Thomas Hylkema. One of the best drivers they had was Swedish, Alexander Storckenfeldt, who challenged for the title a few years back. Stian Sorlie also used to race with them. Mind you, Fortec and Manor etc have just as many international drivers.

I remember Storckenfelt, at some races he was astonishingly good! didn't string it together for the whole season though.
