If not, they can simulate the surface at TMG. And they have a lot of experience with the Nurburgring, even if it isn't with the lmp1, so I think they know a little bit about bumpy tracks.

Not quite sure what's happened to this forum with even older news not being mentioned, however Toyota will be winter testing at Sebring from February 5th onwards. Unlike most if not all of the other teams (?) their cars are not part of the ACO cargo freight that is on 3 year expedition across the seven seas

Also looks like they might develop the car a little more for the 2019-2020 season. Unlike this season where it's pretty much a carryover minus a diveplane or two.

I don't quite understand why you would bother given that every single EoT and/or regulation change seems to be going through their approval or disapproval anyway, meaning that they can control performance just by the power of documents, but I guess it doesn't do any harm either. Especially given for how many years we moaned on them not spending enough money while Volkswagen Group powered on... let them spend. While they still can that is; tech freeze, cost cutting and specness are edging ever closer.

The Sebring test on the other hand, that's really wise as I still don't see their original reasoning of Portimao being able to replicate the conditions for that circuit...

Sounds like they are expecting the privateers to take a good step forward, which I agree with. So they may have to take a step forward too.

Too bad the likelihood of new entries coming into LMP1 should be extremely low, thanks to the chassis only being eligible the next season and the one after that (in slowed down form too)

I can't understand what is Toyota afraid of. The championship is in the pocket. Testing in Sebring is a serious waste of money and time. I can only understand this effort as a collecting data mission for the future hypercar (if they will ever have one).

Portimao is probably the most bumpy circuit in Europe after Anderstorp.

Not that the 'championship' really matters, but I guess they could still loose it to Rebellion if both cars retire for chassis damage (or DSQ a la Silverstone kerbs) at Sebring... and then LM success is never 100% quaranteed

Sebring actually grants more points than any other event if you look at the relative ratio between running hours and points given

Looks like an updated sprint version. The nose cone protruding from the rest of the front bodywork is a giveaway. If you can't tell from that, you can from the unique serrated diveplanes. Also looks like they might have integrated rear view mirrors or maybe just left them off like they did in my avatar picture?

That photo has made the rounds on social media over the past few days. It seems that it takes a few days to actually get set up for one of these tests.

Bit of a culture shock for the team even in the tent setting, I can imagine

Are the sessions open for other cars as well?

Eagerly waiting for Lanky's coverage ^^

The new bridge is looking great.

My mind still boggles at the rapid-fire upshifts. Unreal out of the chicane.

Great stuff

And they'll do another 30 hour simulation here wich is good. Probably not as faultless road ahead for that as at HTTT or Aragon

30 hour test at Sebring for Toyota? All I can say, especially if it's successful, is shown in the attached photo. We know how much such tests, be it private tests or races, helped Audi and Peugeot in the past, in fact often proving invaluable. If Toyota can survive 30 hours at Sebring, between that and LM last year, they should be the easy favorites this year.
