The race begins, and off the line the front three are away fine. Ingram gets a good start and manages to get past Oliphant to move up into 4th. Further back, Osborne bogs down, and drops 6 places from 12th down to 18th. The RWDs of Jelley and Sutton make good starts, Jelley up to 10th and Sutton up to 15th. As the field settles down, Plato retakes 10th place from Jelley. O. Jackson tries to follow Plato through, but Jelley shuts the door and O. Jackson must take evasive action. Taking to the grass, he drops right to the back of the field. A bit of jostling for position between sees Oliphant back up to 4th, Neal up to 5th and Ingram down to 6th as the leaders complete the first lap. Jelley and Plato continue to battle, and Jelley crosses the line in 10th.
Lap 2, and as the field moves across the line, Morgan has pulled into the pits. It looks like something is wrong with the car, as he pulls into his pits and gets straight out. Gloves and Helmet are off, and that looks like his race is done. The team will now be working on the car to get it out for Race 2.
Lap 3, Moffat overtakes Hill to take 11th place. Further back, M.Jackson is trying to recover from his poor grid position, and moves up to 21st. Turkington tops the time sheet for fastest lap, running in 2nd place.
Lap 4, Plato moves back up past Jelley to take 9th place. Neate moves into 16th overtaking Osborne. Over the line, Cammish pulls clear of Chilton to take 7th. M.Jackson continues to move forward too and is up to 20th.
Lap 5, and the field looks to be settling into a bit of a rhythm. Neate and Osborne swap places again, with Osborne now up into 16th. Butcher takes 14th place from Bushell.
Lap 6 underway, and there is a change for the lead. Turkington pulls past Jordan and now runs out front. Towards the back of the field, Cress takes 22nd from Rowbottom and Goff takes 25th from Boardley. M.Jackson picks up another place to move into 19th. Just ahead, Osborne tries to get into the points by passing Bushell. The move fails though, and out of position he is passed by Neate and Gornall.
Lap 7, Plato gains another place as he moves up to 8th, overtaking Chilton. Neate is looking racy, moving up into the points places ahead of Bushell. Thompson also gains a place, taking 20th from Proctor.
Lap 8 sees O.Jackson move off the back of the field, leaving Hamilton now running last. Proctor slips back another place to 22nd behind Crees. M.Jackson continues to head towards the points, picking up 18th after a mistake from Gornall that also sees him fall behind Osborne.
Lap 9, and both Dynamics drivers are sizing up moves. Neal manages to get past the BMW of Oliphant and is now running 4th, whilst Cammish also gains a place to move past Ingram into 6th. The top ten at the end of the lap is:
1- Turkington,
2- Jordan,
3- Cook,
4- Neal,
5- Oliphant,
6- Cammish,
7- Ingram,
8- Plato,
9- Chilton,
10- Jelley.
Lap 10, and as the lead cars come through, Bushell darts into the pits from 16th. The team have the bonnet up, give the car a check over, and release him back on his way. Unfortunately, heís dropped to the back of the field.
Lap11, Chilton manages to pull a move off and gets around Plato to take 8th place. Towards the back end of the points, Sutton takes 12th place from Hill. Whilst just outside the points, the Audis switch with Thompson moving up to 18th. Action at the front again as the lap concludes, with Jordan moving back past Turkington to take the lead. Cammish also gains a place, managing to oust Oliphant from 5th to leave him just behind Neal in 4th. Towards the back of the field, Hamilton moves past O.Jackson up into 26th.
Lap 12, M.Jacksonís run might be coming to an end. Heís dropped off the pace a little and is passed by Thompson for 17th.
Lap 13, and Plato climbs a place up into 8th, getting back past Chilton. The rest of the field remains stable.
Onto Lap 14, and the battle to get into the points continues. This time it is Osborne who drops a couple of places to 18th, being passed by Thomson and M.Jackson in the process. Proctor gets a good run onto the finish straight and can squeeze past Rowbottom over the line to take 21st.
Lap 15, Plato looks to gain another place with an overtake on Ingram. The move doesnít come off though, and Plato ends up being forced wide. This opens the door for Chilton and Jelley to both come through, dropping Plato to 10th. At the front, the two BMWs swap places again with Turkington back into the lead. Hill climbs a place to 12th, getting past Sutton. M.Jackson now sits just outside the points in 16th, having pulled a move on Thompson.
Lap 16, and M.Jackson couldnít make the move stick. Thompson pulls straight past again on a different line and retakes 16th. Towards the rear, and three HARD cars into on corner doesnít go. Goff, Hamilton and Boardley all try and take the same apex. Boardley gets spun around and it looks like the suspension has failed. Heís out and hoping to get repaired in time for Race two. Further round the lap, and Cress moves up to 19th with a pass on Osborne.
Lap 17, things are quiet at the front. Outside of the points though, and a few places are being traded. Crees moves ahead of Gornall into 18th. Rowbottom also gains a place on Proctor to take 21st. Over the line, and the seemingly race-long battle for 16th sees M.Jackson back up, with Crees 17th and now Thompson in 18th. After the previous coming together, Hamilton passes Goff for 24th.
Lap 18, and finally M.Jackson gets into the points. A mistake by Neate allows M.Jackson to pass, and he seizes the chance to take 15th. Rowbottom is up to 10th, passing Osborne. Hamilton also makes another place, taking 23rd from Smiley.
Lap 19, and no change at the front. In the minor places, Proctor Smiley and Hamilton end up 3-abreast. Each of them is impeded, and Goff seizes the opportunity to pass all three of them up to 22nd. After getting into the points, M.Jackson pulls into the pits at the end of the lap, and the team are checking over the car.
Lap 20, and M.Jackson is released back out of his pits, but almost all of the field has gone through. Leaving the pit lane, he is alongside O.Jackson. M.Jackson tries to get ahead to avoid losing any more places, but there is contact between the two and they are both onto the grass. Bushell can get by before the Jacksons recover. Despite his efforts, and to the cost of O.Jackson, M.Jackson is nor running last. Team Orders look like they might be in play for the Team Dynamics drivers, with Neal allowing Cammish past into 4th who immediately sets about closing the gap to Cook in 3rd.
Lap 21, and as we head into the final few laps, Neate attempts a pass on Butcher. Butcher defends, and as a result Thompson and Crees can get by. Cress is now in 15th. Moffat attempts to move up the order with a pass on Plato. Plato is robust in his defence and contacts the rear of Moffatís car. Moffat comes off worse, and his suspension looks to have failed. Heís able to get the car back to the pits, but his race has come to an end. Immediately behind the incident, Jelley takes avoiding action which allows Hill to move up into the top ten. Slightly further forward, Chilton manages to get a run on Oliphant out of the last corner and takes 6th over the line.
Lap 22, Plato moves past Ingram and is back up to 8th. Sutton appears to be struggling a bit on his tyres, and Butcher gets past for 12th. O.Jackson also manages to get past Bushell. Over the line, Proctor is slow out of the last corner. Hamilton and Smiley both pass him on the straight.
Lap 23, Goff gets by Osborne to move up into 20th. At the front, Cammish catches and passes Cook. Cook immediately fights back though, and both drivers see their pace suffer. Neal spies the chance and slips by both up into 3rd place. Cammish is still 4th and Cook drops to 5th. Crees is now dropping down the order. It looks like a slow puncture and he pulls into the pits. The team swap the tyre and send him back out, but it looks like it will just be to check everything else is ok on the car as he is at the back of the field.
Lap 24, final lap. Osborne climbs a place into 19th, getting by Hamilton. At the front, the leading cars are battling right to the end, with no one in the top 7 looking safe. Out of the last corner, the drag race to the line sees Neal manage to pip Jordan right at the end to take 2nd place. Chilton also passes Cook to sneak 5th.
The final order is:
1- Turkington,
2- Neal,
3- Jordan,
4- Cammish,
5- Chilton,
6- Cook,
7- Oliphant,
8- Plato,

The front three are unchanged, with Neal and Cammish surrounded by BMWs everywhere.
Jelley looks to make a further place trying to get passed Cammish but is hampered and Plato takes the chance to move back up to 6th, Jelley down to 7th. By the end of the lap, Morgan climbs up from last place with Cress now at the back of the field. Boardley moves up to 26th passing Proctor.
Lap 2, and Cammish pulls past Oliphant to take 4th place. At the front it’s now BMW, Honda, BMW, Honda, BMW. Butcher and Thompson both get past Hill, who drops to 14th in some midfield bumping. Further back, Boardley makes another place up to 25th. Bushell passes Moffat to take 23rd.
Lap 3, Jelley slides a further place back to 8th as he is passed by Chilton. M.Jackson pulls into the pits at the end of the lap. He’s picked up a puncture after some minor damage, but with a wheel change he’s back out on his way now running in last place. Moffat and Morgan both gain two places as they look to move up into the points. Cook gets past Ingram to move up into the top ten. Turkington puts a marker down for fastest lap, running out in front.
Lap 4, and Jordan makes it a BMW one-two overtaking Neal for 2nd. Cook continues his good run and takes 9th place from Sutton. Boardley makes an error and spins. He must let the whole field past before he resumes in last place. Cammish has set a new fastest lap.
Lap 5, Bushell moves ahead of Goff for 22nd. Morgan’s woes continue, and he’s back into the pits. It looks like the same problem is back, and he’s retired the car again. He’s followed into the pits by Smiley, who’s been off somewhere and picked up debris in the intakes. The team set to work cleaning everything out and he’s back on his way.
Lap 6, Cook makes a place on Jelley taking 8th. Osborne also moves past Goff to take 22nd. It looks like the team’s efforts were in vain for Smiley, he’s back into the pits again and parks up. There is either some other problem, or the engine has overheated. Jordan has closed up on Turkington, setting a new fastest lap in the process.
Lap 7, M.Jackson climbs a place up to 25th passing Crees. Bushell also climbs a place, moving into 20th ahead of Moffat.
Lap 8, and we see a change for the lead. Jordan has been closing for a while now and takes the chance to move up into 1st place. Neate also moves up into the points, taking 15th place from Gornall. At the end of the lap, Jordan has improved his previous time now that he’s running in free air at the front.
Lap 9, Hill gets past Butcher and moves up into 12th place. Straight onto the back of Ingram, Hill makes a move and is past up to 11th. Bushell makes an error under braking, both Moffat and Osborne get past leaving Bushell in 22nd.
Lap 10, and a few places are shuffled through the field. Sutton passes Jelley to take 9th place. Butcher takes 12th from Ingram. Rowbottom is trying to get into the points, moving ahead of Hamilton into 17th. Moffat slides a place down to 21st, with Osborne up to 20th.
Lap 11, and more midfield movement. Butcher moves up within the points to 11th, with Hill dropping to 12th. Neate takes 14th place from Thompson. Hamilton slides another couple of places down to 20th, falling behind Osborne and O.Jackson. Neate is running well, and takes 13th place as well, managing to get past Ingram. Cook and Chilton swap places, with Cook now ahead in 7th.
Lap 12, O.Jackson gets past Rowbottom to climb into 17th place. Chilton dropping behind Cook puts him in reach of Sutton, who takes the chance and moves up into 8th. At the front, Cammish and Neal switch around, Cammish now ahead in 3rd and looking to close on the BMWs ahead. Osborne and Rowbottom continue their battle. Osborne moves ahead into 18th.
Into the second half of the race, Lap 13. Chilton battles back and climbs ahead of Sutton back into 8th. Out at the front, Jordan’s pace has dropped slightly. It could be team orders, as the closing Cammish is threatening to take advantage, with Turkington moving to the front of the field in a move that is not defended by Jordan.
Lap 14, and while attention has been on the front 3, Oliphant has taken advantage of a mistake by Neal and takes over 4th place. Cammish now must deal with BMWs ahead and behind. Butcher applies the pressure on Jelley, and it pays off as Butcher can take 10th. Ingram also climbs back ahead of Neate to take 13th.
Lap 15, the pressure from Cammish has paid off. Looking promising for a while, eventually Jordan is unable to hold off any more and Cammish is up into 2nd. Later in the lap, O.Jackson moves past Gornall and Thompson, into the points in 15th.
Lap 16, Hill moves up past Jelley to take 11th. Further forward, Plato gets past Neal and takes 5th place.
Lap 17, Neal slips a further place back into 7th, being passed by Cook. Thompson retakes 15th from O.Jackson. Neal fights back later in the lap though, and is back up to 6th by the time they cross the line.
Lap 18, and Cammish finally manages to get past Turkington and take to the front. Behind him is now a train of three BMWs, followed by Plato, Neal then Cook. Further back, Osborne and Gornall get into a tangle. Gornall manages to keep his place, but Osborne drops back two places behind Rowbottom and Hamilton.
Lap 19, and disaster strikes for Excelr8. Proctor’s car slows dramatically, and it looks like he’s lost all power. The team have told him to pull over and switch off the engine. That’s his race over, and it will be a challenge for Exceler8 to get anything out of the third race now. Towards the back, M.Jackson is running in 23rd, ahead of Cress and Goff – all hoping to salvage something in the third race it seems.
Lap 20, into the final stages now. Everything seems fairly settled, with just M.Jackson moving up into 22nd ahead of Bushell.
Lap 21, Cook, Chilton and Sutton all cross the line alongside each other. Heading into the first corner, something must give. It’s Cook who gets squeezed out, and Sutton gets a clear run out of the corner up to 7th, ahead of Chilton and Cook now.
At the end of Lap 21, with 3 laps to go that I will have to complete next week, the running order is:
1.Cammish, 2.Turkington, 3.Jordan, 4.Oliphant, 5.Neal, 6.Plato, 7.Sutton, 8.Chilton, 9.Cook, 10.Butcher

the running order is:
1.Cammish, 2.Turkington, 3.Jordan, 4.Oliphant, 5.Neal, 6.Plato, 7.Sutton, 8.Chilton, 9.Cook, 10.Butcher
Lap 22, and Neal manages to take 4th place from Oliphant to split the BMWs.
Lap 23, Turkington retakes the lead from Cammish, as the field head into the final lap.
Lap 24, last lap. Hill moves into the top ten, getting past Butcher. Further back, Gornall looks like heís picked up a puncture. Heís slowed down dramatically but is desperately trying to get the car back as the field all move past him. Thompson also looks like heís picked up a puncture, so possibly thereís some debris on the track somewhere. Itís a disaster for the two Audi drivers, as the cross the line in 24th and 26th.
Final order as they cross the line:
1-Turkington, 2-Cammish, 3-Jordan, 4-Neal, 5-Oliphant, 6-Plato, 7-Sutton, 8-Chilton, 9-Cook, 10-Hill, 11-Butcher, 12-Ingram, 13-Jelley, 14-Neate, 15-O.Jackson, 16-Rowbottom, 17-Hamilton, 18-Osborne, 19-Moffat, 20-M.Jackson, 21-Bushell, 22-Crees, 23-Goff, 24-Gornall, 25-Boardley, 26-Thompson, DNF-Proctor, DNF-Smiley, DNF-Morgan.

Before we move to Race 3, we need to know how many places are reversed on the grid.
9 is drawn, so that means Cook is on pole ahead of Chilton, Sutton, Plato and Oliphant.
The grid is formed, and we wait for the lights to go out.
Off the line, Chilton pulls ahead of Cook into turn one. Plato manages to get past Sutton into 3rd. The big mover is Jelley, managing to get up into 9th.
Continuing into the lap, Morgan has managed to make up 2 places from the back up to 27th. As the field completes the lap, Chilton is back up into 1st over the line.

.... As the field completes the lap, Chilton is back up into 1st over the line.
Lap 2, Crees moves up past Bushell into 22nd. The rest of the field is unchanged.
Lap 3, Thompson takes 25th with an overtake of Goff. Again, quiet elsewhere in the field. The expected race 3 action appears to have not reached the boil yet.
Lap 4, O.Jackson moves up a place in the points, taking 14th from Neate. M.Jackson and Sutton have both slowed during the lap and enter the pit lane. It looks like Sutton has picked up a puncture, and a quick wheel change sees him on his way. M.Jackson’s team have the bonnet up. They spend a bit of time under the bonnet, and then he’s released on his way. Sutton is now in 28th, and M.Jackson 29th.
Lap 5, Jordan picks up a place at the front and takes 5th from Neal. Neal drops a further place as Cammish assumes 6th. O.Jackson continues his climb and takes 12th from Ingram. Hamilton drops to 17th behind Rowbottom. Smiley takes 25th from Morgan. Running in free air ahead of Neal, Jordan has put a marker down for fastest lap.
Lap 6, Morgan looks to get past Smiley. Smiley is pushed wide onto the gravel, and is beached. His race is over and his car needs to be recovered. Ingram makes an error and loses momentum. He drops two places to 15th, behind Osborne and Neate. The action continues later in the lap, as Turkington overtakes Jelley to take 8th. Just behind, Osborne, Hill, Butcher, Neate and O.Jackson are all battling to take 10th place. After plenty of contact, the order over the line is Hill, O.Jackson, Butcher, Osborne and Neate. The FK2s and the Focus ST2s all together. Boardley pulls into the pits at the end of the lap. It looks like his issues are terminal, as he gets out of the car and his helmet is off.
Lap 7, Hill takes 9th place from Jelley. Neate also climbs a place past Osborne into 13th. Further back, Bushell is passed by Thompson to drop into 22nd. After running well, and looking promising, O.Jackson overcooks it and, with no outside influence, spins off onto the grass. The car looks undamaged, but he must pit at the end of the lap to clear out debris. That now leaves him running last.
Lap 8, Osborne gets out of shape. As he’s gathering it up, Ingram and Rowbottom both get past, leaving Osborne in 15th. Jordan moves up another place, as Oliphant lets him through into 4th. Just outside the points, Moffat moves past Gornall into 17th.
Lap 9, Thompson has been into the pits. It looks like a bit of damage picked up somewhere, that the team have dealt with to see him back on his way. Patched up, but now in 27th. The quick work by the team has paid off though, and he’s straight onto the back of O.Jackson, before passing him over the line as they complete the lap.
Lap 10, and Gornall is run wide by Cress into the first corner. With a few cars bunched up behind him, Gornall drops 3 places as a result to 21st before he can slot back into place.
Lap 11, and after a period of pressure Jordan finally manages to find a way past Plato and into 3rd place. Osborne, Rowbottom and Hamilton start the lap alongside each other. Under braking, it’s Osborne who gets in front to take 14th, with Rowbottom down to 16th. Further back, O.Jackson and Thompson continue to challenge each other, with O.Jackson now in 26th. Gornall is still getting up to speed as Morgan closes up on him. Morgan makes an error under braking though and has to take avoiding action. Off line, Morgan runs wide onto the grass and spins. Recovering, he has dropped back to running last in 27th. Elsewhere, Butcher passes Jelley into 10th as they cross the line to complete the lap.
Lap 12, and the BMWs of Jordan and Oliphant both move forward. Jordan is now up to 2nd ahead of Chilton, and Oliphant takes 4th from Plato. Hamilton and Osborne get into a bit of tangle, and as a result Rowbottom climbs into the points in 15th, with Hamilton dropping to 17th. At the halfway point, the running order is: Cook, Jordan, Chilton, Oliphant, Plato, Cammish, Neal, Turkington, Hill, Butcher.

At the halfway point, the running order is: Cook, Jordan, Chilton, Oliphant, Plato, Cammish, Neal, Turkington, Hill, Butcher.
Lap 13, and Chilton gets back past Jordan to re-take 2nd place. Hamilton is still struggling for pace, as he drops a further two places back to 19th. Sutton moves up to 22nd ahead of Proctor. He can’t make the move stick though, and Proctor fights back. The two tangle and Sutton picks up a puncture. He makes it round to the pits and is back on his way but now running last. Ingram climbs to 12th ahead of Neate.
Lap 14, Hamilton continues to slide down the order as he’s passed by Goff for 19th. Bushell takes 17th from Crees. Inside the points, Osborne moves up to 13th ahead of Neate. Rowbottom lines up a move on Neate and squeezes past. Neate was taken by surprise and misses his braking point overshooting the corner and spinning. He’s picked up a lot of damage but is still running. He’s into the pits at the end of the lap to remove some trailing bodywork. The team spend a while checking the car over, which leaves him at the back of the field when he gets back out.
Lap 15, Neal pulls off an overtake on Plato to take 6th place, as the Honda pair look to close in on the podium. In the podium places, Jordan is back ahead of Chilton into 2nd. Towards the back, Thompson takes 24th from Morgan.
Lap 16 is quiet, with Hamilton moving ahead of Goff into 18th being the only position change.
Lap 17, and there is a bit of change at the lower end of the points positions. Jelley is up into the top ten, with a pass on Butcher. Osborne also climbs a place into 12th, ahead of Ingram.
Lap 18, Jordan moves to the front getting past Cook to take the lead. Gornall has slowed dramatically. He makes it round the circuit and pulls into the pits. His race is over, with an issue with the car.
Lap 19, Cook slips a further place as Chilton moves up into 2nd. Cammish also makes up a place, taking 4th from Oliphant. Ingram gets past Osborne to take 12th. Whilst Cress climbs to 16th ahead of Bushell. Later in the lap, O.Jackson takes 21st place from Proctor.
Lap 20, Turkington picks up another place as he takes 7th from Plato. M.Jackson is pushing hard to get into the points as he takes 19th from Goff.
Lap 21, another place for M.Jackson as he takes 18th from Hamilton. Ingram makes up a place, moving ahead of Butcher into 11th. Hamilton slides down again, now in 20th behind Goff. Morgan climbs to 23rd passing Thompson.
Lap 22, Cook pulls back ahead of Chilton to take 2nd place. Ingram climbs back into the top ten, moving in front of Jelley. Sutton, Thompson and Neate are all running close together. Neate tries to get past with a late lunge but manages to run into Thompson. Sutton moves up to 24th, Neate comes out ahead of Thompson who drops to 26th.
Lap 23, Proctor climbs into 21st ahead of O.Jackson. Cook is looking strong, and possibly the weight is starting to hurt Jordan, as the lead changes with Cook now running out front as they move onto the last lap.
Lap 24, final lap and there are a few last ditch changes in the points. Out of the last corner, Turkington manages to get half a car length ahead of Neal to take 6th over the line. Rowbottom has Moffat and Cress pushing hard behind. Moffat squeezes up the inside, and Crees is able to follow through before Rowbottom can close the door. Moffat takes 14th, and Rowbottom drops outside of the points to 16th.
As the flag falls, the final order is: Cook, Jordan, Chilton, Cammish, Oliphant, Turkington, Neal, Plato, Hill, Ingram, Jelley, Butcher, Osborne, Moffat, Crees, Rowbottom, Bushell, M.Jackson, Goff, Hamilton, Proctor, O.Jackson, Morgan Sutton, Neate, Thompson. DNF – Gornall, Boardley, Smiley.

I can see Jordan having a good season, Turkington will have it tougher, Oliphant will be quick and Cammish will be up there again, as should Chilton, Neal and Tingram. Not sure how the Mercs will go. I certainly see all three BTC cars being up there enough times. Be interesting to see which way the championships go. Certainly the top teams will be Speedworks, Dynamics, Motorbase, BTC and WSR.

Thompson could have an interesting year with his car, Crees will do better than people realise. Plenty of other questions to answer. How well will the three VWs go? I can see at least one of them being competitive or maybe only one.

So yeah plenty of food for thought being provided here

There are some potential flaws in the modelling, which I am still to gain the experience and resource to iron out of the simulation.
One of those being the Toyota / Speedworks. Assessing the potential of the team/car is difficult with just a single entry - when compared to a 3-Series or FK8.

On the day when Turkington and Oliphant both have a bad result, Jordan might still score well making the car's statistics stronger.
Likewise the FK8.
If Ingram gets a bad result - is that a reflection of the team, car or driver?
But then another thought - is that a reflection of the real world situation where Speedworks will always struggle when they only have one set of data?
