cavvy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
V8s back to 28, maybe 26... (merged)

TC is reputed to have admitted the 32 car grid is no longer ... 26 maybe 28 only ... what happens to the unsaleable franchises ... where does PWR stand, compete or fold?

i hope not because there are plenty of good talents missing out now and why did they bother trying to boost it back to 32 for this year if they are only going to decrease it after, they could of let the Waldens and PWR not run who are only running to avoid the fines and also FRSR under the 2nd PWR licence that gives 29 and another licence would of come up for grabs sooner or later.

The list is quite short of the licences for sale...

2x 2008 car licences from WPS
1x 2007 L2 Franchise licence slot from Perkins
1x 2008 car licence from Team Dynamik

... while the story about Mr Romano/Mr Walden selling their licence is still around.. and Mr Weel fields calls from people wanting to buy at seriously reduced prices....

Despite the story in AA, it seems RNR have signed a transfer document for the Team Dynamik licence back to that operation (allegedly) so Mr Wills is more likely to show up at Adelaide than Mr D'Alberto....

Presumably the WPS rethink is why the ex-FPR cars are available to other teams....

The 'missing' car is Patrizi FRSR Falcon which as much mentioned, will not be on the grid for Adelaide.

So no-one is gone.

A 2007 L2 franchise licence slot is obligated to pay a TEGA tax contribution to TEGA to upgrade it to L1 status, and therefore assuming a new life as a 2008 car licence (of which there is only one grade)

If the L2 was owned prior to 31/12 last year, TEGA will allow the owner to pay off the TEGA tax over 2 years, taken from distributions from the prizemoney pool. This is a grandfather clause.. meaning if you buy a 2007 L2 franchise licence slot from Mr Perkins... the total amount of the TEGA tax becomes payable prior to transfer

Allegedly.

Would be the same for the L2's owned by PCR, TKR, Walden.. if they were to be onsold...

Allegedly

Presuming any of this actually happened

I reckon it is the wrong way to go. Watching some early supertaxi BATHURST races over Xmas there were up to 55 cars on the grid and it was great to see the numbers there, not tack them away like TC want's to. IMO.

Bathurst only

What chance the franchise thing be modified for Bathurst only - all 26 or 28 whatever L1 teams guaranteed a start & the balance of the grid to be by invitation and/or qualification.

How many pit bays limit the number of starters - Mt Panorama, pls advise.

Special rules for a special race !!

This is the beginning of the end. I remember when V8's had prequalifying to fill 35 slots, the ever growing WP fiasco has guarenteed you can't be competative on your own merits anymore.

Makes me a very sad old motorsport fan........
