I still like what one team did last year, and trucked a second (carpeted) pantech down for the weekend, and slept in there...dry and free of mud all weekend

I dont mind the rain on race day ..but hopefully it will be dry and hot until then and dry the place up a bit..rain makes the race over exciting but cars getting bogged every 3 laps is downright annoying..so hopefully there is no rain until race day (if any at all) and then the bogging situations wont be quite as bad as last year.
I wanna see a dry race race anyway |

But with the 107% rule going to be strictly enforced (unless nobody makes it...) there will be nobody from Planet Mork. therefore nobody in the scrub...

Actually I was rather disappointed to see that the big one this year will only have a grid of 41 cars and not the usual 55 or so.

Matt Neal can't make the trip because he was refused permission by his Nissan team. Does anyone know if Cleland has arrived in the country yet?

I'm not sure about Cleland, i suppose he is coming, haven't heard otherwise.
I also think it's a shame there is only 41 cars on the grid. Tony says V8s are going so great, yet they can't fully subscribe grids. With teams having to qualify for Bathurst by contesting the SCS or Konica's, all the once a year teams who can't afford to race anywhere except Bathurst can't compete. That's fine if it's Formula One, but as much as Tony wants it to be, it isn't, it's V8Supercar. Does tradition mean nothing to him. Never again can someone put in a performance like Dick Johnson in 1980, he only did a few endurance races before Bathurst, yet was running away with it. It's a shame things like that can't happen under current organisation. At least there is quality in the grid. I reckon in the Top 10 a high 2:07, with the resurfacing and car development, could be done. |

Cleland is in the country and will race.
The problem is that this year (or so they say) they will enforce the 107% rule for both drivers...and if that is so (and they run a 2:07 pole time) both drivers will have to beat a high 2:15...so you might only see 30 odd cars on the grid. Also with the Konica type race on Saturday has drawn 20 or so cars that would normally run on Sunday. Yep, 55 cars would be ace, but it isn't the end of the world. Of those 14 or so cars that could have entered, I doubt any of them would have been a threat. |

It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Thanks for the info Crash.
For years there has been the cry to ban the 'once a year racers' from the circus regulars. How good a show they can put on now that they don't have the mobile chiccanes to tend with and the the lack of human interest stories for the commentators will be one to watch. |

That's right, no more lapped traffic excuses, maybe some driver's reputations will be hurt this weekend, it is a pretty hot field.

can i get $10 on that blah blah fella..he sounds mighty interesting
I think they are trying to make themselves to professional by having a 107% rule...have 10 or so cars missing out is just stupid and im sure sponsors would not be happy ...bathurst is all about these tryers to me..Morky and the Xerox car are there for the love of it and deserve a go ..but ive said this before so Im gonna stop rambling about not giving the average bloke a chance anymore now |

While congrats to Tony on bringing the series out of the dark ages, he has no concept of Bathurst or its importance in Aussie MS. Gee, he thinks Adelaide and Canberra are more important than MEKKA What a ******** Last edited by Alan Jones; 4 Oct 2001 at 20:59. |

I'm not a bettering person, but car number four is at $18 the win...$5 on that thank you
If they come good, I might be able to rescue Ansett I notice the lead Kmart car is fastest this morning. Car 4 is 6th fastest after being 9th fastest yesterday. Also car 00 has imporved a bit...but it's interesting that times are slower today than yesterday. |

Crash,
Moff and i are on car 4, we placed our bets at the track. They are paying about $30, so we are all hoping they win. I also got car 17 to win the shoot out at $9. So go the FORDS Had a great day at the track though today. Meet up with Moff (hes not that scarry , really ). Went to the top of the mount to watch quailifying, great to see Paul Well sneak into the top 15. Unlucky for Larko , he was very quick in practice, but had a problem in qualifying. I should have some photos to post tommorow or Sunday. |
