Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Dijon '79 vs Hockenheim '02 - The wheel-to-wheel part

After watching Villeneuve and Arnoux race wheel to wheel all round the circuit at Dijon in '79, I never thought I'd see anything like that in today's F1. But Raikkonen vs Montoya at Hockenheim '02 was almost an exact copy of Dijon '79 in my opinion, just a different circuit with different drivers. What did you think of it? And how long did the Dijon '79 one last for? The Hockenheim '02 one lasted for 40 seconds.

A good few laps, I'm thinking.

But the Dijon race was far more exciting with Gilles braking late, locking up his tyres and stuff, compared to that the Hockenheim version with Montoya and Raikkonen was nothing special...

Hackedinhalf didn't last as long and wasn't nearly as spectacular. But it does deserve to be remembered as a classic battle. Hopefully there'll be _many_ more from Kimi and Juan in the years to come, it's looking pretty unlikely...

I have an mpeg of the Dijon battle, goes on for two laps. The battle could have gone on for more than that, but it's not part of the clip.

I remember thinking at the time that it went on for ever, though.

Murray is comentating and sounds like a funeral director!!!
NOTHING like the pants on fire murray of later years and certainly unbearable to listen to while you look at the best motor racing fight ...ever?

Dijon was far more spectacular than anything F1 has produced in the past decade. But that's the thing - those moments, such as Dijon, are so rare that they are remembered above all else.

Doesn't mean we don't want to see some wheel-to-wheel action more often though.
