Foges again.

I read in AA a few weeks ago that Foges mentioned motorsport forums again. In the article he says that the forums get it wrong more often than right. He could be right in some cases but a lot of posts in here are indeed just speculation and don't pretend to be the truth. On the other hand there are a lot of real scoops that come out of these forums.
I wonder if Foges would like us to go through all of the issues of AA and come up with all the furfies they have put into print over even the last couple of years and he said they follow the leads with their own intelligence and confirming or rejecting these leads with multiple sources. Perhaps AA should be getting all of it stories right then if that's the case.

I don't read AA but I have seen the same types of articles in SRN (speedway racing news). To me it seems nothing more than the magazine trying to drive themselves more business by claiming the Internet is full of lies etc and to only trust what they say.

Forums are good for the sport they give fans to share opinions and get opinions of others, not just a magazine with one opinion telling you 'this is the way it is'.

I think it's sour grapes from Foges for all the times they've been caught out with seeded info on this forum.

I remember in 1997 when AA claimed Mark Webber tested a Mclaren and it was just complete bull****. They superimposed Webber's helmet on the picture of a Mclaren.

That was huge news at the time, Webber was seriously ****ed off because it had the potential to ruin his current deal with Mercedes.

What's the one about the person who lives in glass houses...

Well I know for a fact that a past member of this Forum started a great rumour and it ended up in AA nearly word for word.

Maybe that's what he's complaing about. How can he possibly produce a hard-hitting mag with all the latest news when his main source (this forum) keeps getting it wrong

No, and Glenn Seton didnt make it to Tasman, or HRT either....

In the grand scheme of the world, if a publication purporting itself to be credible in the sport it has chosen to cover, to get something so significantly wrong, and potentially compromising negotiations with sponsors in play, as BOC was likely at that stage, its not quite so hot....

Perhaps they should have linked the "OzJet" branding on the MinardiF1 cars, and Mr Stoddart's latest venture (which still isnt off the ground yet) to suggest that he is wading into Supercar with a team purchase

That incident resulted in AA being the lead item on Media Watch. And that AA cover is prominently displayed in another mag's editorial office. Or so I'm told.

MW was more than just peed off - it went damned close to killing his career.

But AA are not the only ones to get it wrong. Not by a long shot.

The quote is, according to Gary Larson; "People who live in grass huts shouldn't throw spears."

From more personal experience, something written on Conrod, and not in the forums, showed up word for word in AA. The author (not me) was mighty peeved. AA's reaction was in hindsight comical, I wish I could tell it :P

I remember David Hassall in Motorsport News the following week was absolutely disgusted with it and rightly so. That wouldn't be the mag who has that front cover would it?
