Mr Keener should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Now Now Foggy as a fine upstanding forum member I feel it is appropriate to set an example and certainly not post any rumours or half truths or even just what I hear around the traps. Its the year of facts only. Here goes with the confirmed participants that I am aware of for the upcoming series.
Manuell/Booth
Anderson/Wallace
Thom/Shivers
Foggy
Huzziff
Pero/Henshaw(I think)
Wootten
Parsons/Proctor/New Dude(mate of Clarks)
Carlysle
Fawcett
M Pederson
Perkins
Anyone help with confirmation of the rest?

I thougth you guys& gals migth like to know some of the new gears likley to be on the V8's this year.

Optional 6pot fronts, 4pots rears, triple plate clutch - all this will become offical in the next few weeks

Too help with who's doing what
Peter Butler suggested to me he was likely to lease his setup out for a year and have a break.

Hi All

Can someone explain the difference between the cars in the 2 tiers of the series next summer? I see on the motorsport NZ site they race at separate meetings.

Tracy my understanding is that the level 2 cars can only be cars purchased from level 1 teams or cars built as older cars although not sure which models(probably au & vt)I believe they are also rev limited.I dont quite understand what is going to keep the costs down though as there will still be fuel tyres damage broken bits travel and for those with more dollars than others some development.I would imagine if you were able you would straddle up to one of the bigger teams lean on their infrastucture and potentially run very well

First first new parts certainly cost more, however the brake upgrade is targeted at safety and reduced running cost(so the plan goes) the front offers better wear therfore less cost, the rear peform better and less wear. maybe we will save$$ the rears do give us alot of trouble(fade, high wear etc) so need to be fixed

Tier 2 cars includes any original v8 tourers VK,VL EL, AU etc, they must have been preivously built for the class. are rev limited lower will run harder slick tyres, prob run 5-6 secounds slower. Should be close racing, cheaper running a place to start with a relativly cheap car and lower running costs. A place teams migth develope some young guns for the following season

The harder tyres will last longer and they will be limited like tier 1 to the number of tyres they are allowed, yup thats right no one this year will be allowed unlimited testing tyres

Lower speeds definatly mean cheaper racing, lower rev limit makes engine last longer

Damaged bits on a VT,VK etc are fare cheaper than VY at the car wreckers, in fact VK bits are real cheap and as they are lighter a VK could be very compedative. You can buy a rolling race caged shell for $5k-8k plus engine and box

Goat Boy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Does anyone know if it's planned to run both series at the same event, or do like the Konica V8's in Oz and have them totally separate?
It's pretty exciting seeing such interest as to justify a feeder class like this, and it looks like the V8 Supercars will be much slower next year (as I keep banging on about) so even more reason to go visit your local V8's instead!

So foggy, now that "our" plans have failed, what are your plans for the coming season? Same car? Same sponsors?

Hi all, looks like some have risen up from the ashes of this chat forum.

Well the E-frame Holden VY is off to the panel shop tomorrow to get a couple of scratches fixed, boy isn't that a common theme.

Then it's off to the paint shop and I wonder what colour it will return to the workshop in....any guesses ???

As for the Wallace camp, I can confirm that they have given birth to a new VY Holden and it's currently also receiving a complete head to toe paint job....again interesting colour choice !!!

Other off season developments....

Strapping Systems - K.Williams has been offering some driver training to me on Pukekohe, and currently he is kicking my arse in terms of laps times.

Anyone know the cheat codes for V8 Supercar Driver 2?

Hi All

ROFL 275 GTB-4, they couldn't have taken that picture any further from the track if they tried , but at least they made the effort If you want some pics just let me know and I can take some at the next meeting in a few weeks time

Thanks to Mark Wootton for the description of the two classes - looks like we get 2 rounds of the second tier, but only one of the 1st tier next summer Should be great!
