hmmm.. a major announcement - they are such a tease those V8SA blokes.

One would have to think that with the federal election imminent and the two protaganists throwing around money like it is going out of fashion, that the funding for Townsville could have been approved at federal level.. and hence the annoucement. Mr Howard was in Brisbane yesterday, so a few votes up north could be in the offing...

Toyota's involvement annoucement has to be a long shot. Surely that rumour would have got out before now.. and V8SA and particularly Mr Cochrane would have been spotted kissing up... err... sorry, Entertaining Toyota folk at Bathurst, Indy etc...

Either that or it is to annouce Paul Morris' new mo.

Except both sides have already scotched the idea of federal funding being made available for pipe dreams like this.

A hot off the press scoop, AASA will be the Sanctioning Authority from next year and Bob Jane and Mick Ronke have been employed to replace Kelvin and Dr. John.
They have to leave the announcement until Wednesday to ensure Mr Guci is informed that his services will no longer be required as Bruce Robertson will be the new Series Race Director!

Matthew Ronke should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The local Labour candidate proclaimed about two weeks ago that there would be money comming form Rudd if he was elected. If this is going to be the major announcement then the pigeon carrying the message from Townsville to Marine Parade must have stoped over for a holiday.

Isnt that a CAMS announcement? Would VESA present this as a change?

I wouldnt consider a change of race director as earth shattering news - not one to hold off announcing until everyone is gasping to hear what the scoop is!

It has to be big for them to brag that a 'major announcement is coming' and the fact that the powder room has not had any solid 'whispers' means that it must have been kept very quiet - whatever it is !

With the pressure on little Johnny to grab votes, especially in Queensland and the traditional National Party stronghold of North Queensland being under threat from Labor, maybe he has had a re-think on supporting the Townsville event. It was only a few weeks ago that the Major of Townsville led a delegation to Canberra to lobby for funding.

Now, there is a plan Bruce as Race Director and Macca (aka Chopper) as IPO and Driving Standards officer, then some stuff would be sorted.

Wednesday the 14th November, there will be a joint statement from V8 Supercars and the FIA.

In a nutshell it will say that from 2009, V8 Supercar's will be the official support category for every round of the Formula 1 Championship.

There will be quotes from Tony where he states the "V8's have outgrown Australia" and from Bernie where he states "What the f#@* are V8 Supercars?"

And likely to lose more votes than it would gain if he does channel any money into a category that is already over-funded.

And if we still have to have flagging from Race (out of) Control, can I call the shots on that? It will make this a very short retirement I admit!

He has, and like all good holden teams ALL the cars will now all be sourced from walkinshoddy performance, hence the series will be known as walkingshoddy performance supercars, or WPS for short - a conspiracy years in development!

I like it!

I am curious about this 'announcement' though. Hope it's something worthwhile, otherwise there will be a lot of disappointed people in here!

Nice call there, Mr Gucci being replaced by the great Australian Mens outfitter, R.M Williams.

Would that make it the Australian Supercar Spectacular brought to you by R.M Williams ?? See a new race director & a new major sponsor in one whack

Sorry, just did a family holiday on the Gold Coast:

Strangely The Black Wiggle didn't return my calls about that dinner invite.......
