Formula ford bodywork
Dear All,
I'm currently in the process of stripping down and re-building my Van Diemen RF88 fford. My bodywork has been re-built time and time again and is not quite ill fitting. Can anyone lend me advice on the best way to fix the bodywork with fibre glass and any tips on how to get a better fit ? I'm also pondering on some brand new bodwork all round but I have no idea what comapny sells the bodywork ? Any help much appreciated Thanks Tiptop |

Try Ken T at URS (01953 789223).
If mending it yourself you need to keep it square/flat on a wooden base, unless you've got a mould. The weight goes up with no of repairs, you might be better off with new stuff. .... says he patching up for nth time !!! |

Should be about a grand for the whole lot, maybe £1,200.

Hi, if you want new body work try URS, Universal Race Services. They have a web site and I don't have their phone number offhand. Speak to Ken or Simon (Don't email as they don't always read them regularly.) Any problem, let me know and I can sort the phone number.
If you want to repair, you need to cut/grind back beyond the smallest crack or it will just start again. I then fibreglass the back - using a light mesh if it's a big area - and then fill the front. Sand down using wet and dry emery paper and then paint. Where it doesn't fit, you need to work out why and modify. The RF86 uses studs and if yours is the same you might need to move them or the locating holes. Hope this helps, good luck |

Andy - will it be new body all round for yours, or do you already have it 'in stock' ?
