A lot of crashes seemed happen at the Porsche Curves. Drivers trying a bit too hard thanks to the new run-off? It was kind of pleasing to see actually since there was talk that the corner was no longer challenging...

In TV the new Porsche Curves didn't look as bad as at least the bitumen was painted to look like sand. Also, when comparing onboards from 2017 and 2018, the actual track lines, kerbs and the already existing run-off seems to be unchanged.

Do you mean the run from Mulsanne - the straight section up to where you can see the Rolex 'bridge'? Those are different trees to the ones that were affected by fire. The ones as you walk from Mulsanne car park have been cut down since last year leaving the walk through very bare indeed. That area has always suffered from flooding and boggy ground, even with the trees!

The burnt down area is on the inside of the track. Thankfully a lot of new trees are coming up to replace the burned down ones.

I thought that was a shame, looked really bare and just not right, hopefully there was a good reason they had to be cut down

Agreed, it was quite a shock when we turned up there on Thursday evening. But, a bit of deforestation is necessary from time to time, I guess. It has certainly changed 'the feel' of the place, and not in a good way.

Yes, there's a gate down the other end. It might be better not having everyone mobbing the Toyota garage as they walk onto pitlane. It's usually quite a scrum on the Friday pit walk.
