I think I heard or read that Macau will clash with GP2 testing or a GP2 Asia round, so it's possible that those planning to move up a category won't be there

I don't think so. The calendar of GP2 Asia Series tells it all.

2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series

Oct 18/19 - Shanghai
Dec 5/6 - Dubai
Jan 23/24 - Bahrain
Feb 27/28 - Dubai
Apr 4/5 - Sepang
Apr 18/19 - Bahrain

GP2 Asia Series official test

Oct 8/9 2008 - Shanghai

from the GP2 Website.

Looking forward to this. I'm making the trip over this year. Got some seats at Lisboa so should be in for some hefty action.

Bring on November!

They will apply for sure as they won't only use their F308 once of year(earlier in Monza),but still have to say, depend how many entries and how Blend elimate exceed teams.

There's still a month till it happens.

Sometimes Eurosport show it live as part of their WTCC coverage, most times they don't though...

Some Good surprises like the Return to MacauGP of Roberto Streit with Raikkonen Robertson, and Nick Tandy with the Mygale and James Winslow with Ombra Racing

Also some funny surpise like only 2 cars for ART , Some more drivers from the Japanese Championship and only one driver from Macau, Michael Ho

Seems like they jumped the gun when they mentionned that Turvey finished 1st on the British F3 and Alguersuari 2nd...

Ho maybe is a local hero and has dedicated himself to motorsport, but talented racer? 2x9th, 1x10th, 1x14th, 1x15th, 1x20, 1x24 and retirement in Macau with 8th position in FV6 Asia few years ago really doesn't prove your claim of he being praised for his racing talent.

The thruth is that Hitech, Ombra, Swiss Racing Team, Kolles, Cram and now Double R have signed him only because he brings so much money, that's it. I recall someone (I really can't remember who) claiming that Ho could win Macau with top-team...

Aside from that, awesome entry list with Carlin trio+Ericsson, TOM's duo, Signature duo+superb Mäki, ART duo, Coletti and VDZ at Prema, Streit and Mustonen with Double R, Hitech trio... it's better than I imagined and hoped, almost everyone expect Ho and Shaaban could pull it out, it's gonna be tight. And another positive thing, no locals expect Ho and that's great, they're only a waste of seats to be honest...

Im looking forward for this!

Is Tsukakoshi not racing for Manor then? I assumed he would have been one of the favourites after his great drive from 9th on the grid to 2nd last year.

This is really close to call, I couldn't predict the top 3! I assume Oshima will be fast after his 3rd place last year. James Jakes has finished in the top 7 here for the past 2 seasons, and Sam Bird should be in the running after 6th place last year. Hartley, Bianchi, Mortara and Roberto Streit I would expect all of them to be at the front.

Tsukakoshi has nothing to gain really. Pretty much any performance he puts in will only devalue his brilliant race last year.

Similar for Hulkenburg, he doesn't need a victory in Macau. The odds of him going to ART in GP2 next year are very high anyway, and whatever he does in Macau isn't going to affect that.

A couple of interesting things though: Lancaster is racing for Manor, not ART. Maki racing for Signature Plus (although in this case, Mucke is not in the running). Possibly try-outs for next year...

I'm really pleased to see Ericsson at Carlin though; I've been hoping he would end up there for next year. Considering his performances this year and last year, I can't help but feel if he races with them next year in BF3 he will destroy the field...

But isn't it better to race at the most blue-riband event on the F3 calender than not? Those two drivers would surely like the win on the CV, and they would likely to have been contending for overall honours. No one 'needs' a victory in Macau if you have proved yourself already, but you'd look a helluva lot better with the win! Anyway, they aren't racing so what am I talking about?!

Sato raced with confirmed Jordan drive. May be Nico and others are afraid of messing it up in front of Mario Theissen.
Lam Pak, do you know which Chinese TV would be showing it? If it's CCTV, then it won't be a problem to watch it online
